my miate head gasket went bad after i overheated pretty badly. the radiator had no presuure so all the coolent boiled out and the temperature gauge went off the dial immediately. the car ran with no oil in the coolent for about a year, but this summer it finally was leaking coolent into the oil and oil into the colant, so i had it fixed before the fouled oil could mess up the whole engine. $1000 bill.
How come there isn't a video made on, "how to replace head gaskets on an "OHV automobile motor"! I really like to see a full video if its possible, on a 90 Mercury Sable 3.8 liter!
My rule of thumb is if it runs and gets you where you need to go reliably , you don't need a new engine. When it stops running then he needs a new engine. :)
i've never seen a blown head gasket like that on a car. that rarely even happens on motorbikes. he must of really pushed it for it to do that. in saying that it is an 83 model and who knows the last time the gaskets were replaced in it. how long was it like that?
I don't know that much about engines. I get the basics like what the head gasket does, and other random stuff like that. These videos are pretty awesome for someone still learning.
i have been making some videos of some rare things that happen at my shop, like one, we pulled this brake rotor off a jeep, and it was just so damn thin, i will put the video as a response.
interesting. thank you!!
