Osu! My Master is Kancho Okuyama, the head of IKA Canada. The Honbu is a very nice looking dojo, and I would love to take a class/Seminar with Soke Kubota.
I trained with Kancho Okuyama for over 10 years back in the end. Had a chance to train with Soke when he came up from the US. Incredible how close those two were but how utterly different their personalities are. Soke was such a personable guy, almost soft and grandfather like. Okuyama, on the other hand, always seemed to be very traditional Japanese. By far the best years of my life were training with him. He even sent me to Japan for a few weeks to stay at a Buddist temple.
Yeah man, I hear you. I only did seminars with Kancho Okuyama. I have not trained with Kancho for a long time, mainly because the IKA dojo in my city closed, and I started doing Kyokushin.
You know its funny, I spent my entire childhood and teenage life all the way to my early twenties studying various kinds of Martial Arts: Shotokan Karate, kickboxing, aikido, judo and various weapons, and I only heard of Kyokushin only about a week ago. I've been meaning to get back into the Arts for a long time and to get my children in it as well, and I've been really tempted with Kyokushin and what it has to offer.
