Thanks for uploading this. One song that he actually performed during the concert but which never made it to the DVD is "Learning to Fly." It's not like the acoustic version he plays nowadays, but it's actually the full band version (seeing as this concert was performed the same year that "Learning to Fly" was released). I have the audio track if anyone is interested.
Thanks so much for putting this up! I have the video, but it's always good to have more formats. I agree about the strange pace of the show, especially compared to other TP&TH concerts - there are definite longueurs in the middle (the psychedelic dragon? the introduction to DCAHNM?) and I can't for the life of me see why they wanted that complicated and hardly-used stage set. But hey. It's TP&TH. And the last 7 songs are magnificent.
This was when the heartbreakers I believe were the strongest, no offense to Ron or Steve but You had Howie,Stan, Benmont and Scott doing backing/harmony vocals. and Stan was still drumming.....
@KeeYaBitch I was inclined to think the same thing, but compared to the 30th Anniversary concert I find this one pretty bleak, too much "showmanship" distractions and noodling around for my taste. From the front line - Tom & Mike - by the way.
I totally agree. Like you said, not to take anything away from Ron and Steve, because they're both pretty damned good, but this lineup was fucking AWESOME! They had three excellent harmony vocals with a fourth (Benmont) who was pretty good. I do prefer Steve's drumming, though, over Stan's
I feel like ever since Ron came back his playing just isn't as busy or energetic as it was the first time around. He seems to play really simple bass lines. Anyone else notice it or agree with me?
@tbird13936 Don't know about the bass, but I feel like the black guy beats harder on the drums or at least I heard him better in the 2006 reunion concert.
good to see howie epstein, love the peace sign, i was at the oakland show thanks to gregg perloff and they rocked it

I got so SCARED during Don't Come Around Here No More. Who were those men chasing him? Was he going to be OK? Glad he's OK. I really like Tom Petty.

And I better not see any comments about wanting me to upload Call of Duty again! I, OnlyTheKnife, may make a return for MW3, so yeah.
