  • c2d 2ghz , 1gb ram , hd3650 ... my pc can run this ?

  • @Malasuerte94 This seems to be a misunderstanding. The layouts for this pop up sculptures are created completely by hand, without the use of a computer – and especially without the use of any 3d modelling software. Only if every piece fits correctly, I disassemble the model and scan every piece with a flatbed scanner. Afterwords, I use the scans to draw the pieces with "adobe Illustrator". I only use a cutting plotter, if the shapes are very complex, otherwise, I cut them by hand.

  • @DesignPD i now this and is awsome ! i like sculptures ,look so good like a computer game ;)

  • @Malasuerte94 You won't need a special computer to create such pop ups. It's a thing of practical experience with real materials (paper and cardboard) over a long time period. Best, Peter

  • @Malasuerte94 simply fail.

  • to all haters. look at the dislike bar. look at your dick. it looks the same doesnt it ? you dont see it ^^

  • Beautiful

  • i LOVE the cube one at 0:25! it is awesome!

  • You deserved a standing ovation (applause) :)

  • Simply awesome, bravo.

  • When you first got into graphic design, you were doing stuff like this already? Or all the training got you this good??

  • @RecognizeDisNiggah The first sculpture in this video is from 1989 (the spiral). The other four pop ups are from 2010/11. Perhaps you know my other video with white sculptures (Six Amazing Pop-Up Paper Sculptures) – all these pop ups are from my studies. It is difficult for me to recognise, if I really got better through the years. I am a little faster now, and my constructions are even more complicated, but I am not sure, if my newest pop ups are better.

  • @DesignPD Indeed.

  • 1 dislike.

  • left me speechless, your really creative!

  • do you have any diagrams for these pop upp cards, dont need turtorials ^^, you are awesome :D

  • @StArCrAfTIIHighDeff Many thanks for your praise. No, you can't have the diagrams, as I don't want my pop up sculptures to be copied. Please create your own designs! Best, Peter

  • @DesignPD yeah i can see that, thank you for answering :) do you think you can share with me how you learned to make these awesome sculpture :D ( can send me a message ?)

Good luck with your work, StArCRAfTIIHighDeff

  • @StArCrAfTIIHighDeff I learned to do these things by 22 years of personal experiences and a lot of trial and error. But I can recommend some books for beginners. Please visit my facebook fanpage (please search for peter.dahmen.papierdesign on facebook). If you look in my recent comments, you will find a list with many tipps and tutorials. Best, Peter

  • Have you ever thought about making city pop-up sculptures?

  • @Masterkiller9000 Yes, I already created some pop up cards with skylines and cities, but they are not available on the market yet. I hope that they will be published soon. Best regards, Peter

  • And why aren't you an architect instead? :D

  • Amazing

  • Your sculptures are amazing!

  • Hello Dennis, thank you for your reply and your compliments. For you as well: keep up the good work, I just cannot believe my eyes seeing what you come up with! Best wishes from Amsterdam, Ingrid.

  • @IngridSiliakus Hello Ingrid, my Name is Peter – not Dennis, but thank you anyway :-) Greetings from Germany, Peter

  • I am so impressed with your work Peter! Amazing!

  • @IngridSiliakus Hello Ingrid, many thanks for your praise. Especially from you! I love your paper artwork, especially the Scockhol Arena pop up card. Keep up the great work! Best wishes from Germany, Peter

  • Hey pete. How does your geometry algorithm works??? I mean. You might think of a shape (or even a building!???!? great btw!) that you wanna make. do you then just try your way out, or does everyone work like your torturial shows it: make the shape one a paper, so the mountain folding is at top an fold the rest back. Or does it depend on the very shape?

There must be some sort of algorithm or "laws" that one can follow, when a sculpture is thought of(?)

And. You don't just use ONE paper right?!

  • @lassehn Hey Lasse! You are right with your guess: It always depend on the sculpture. Sometimes, I think of an existing building, or a certain figure, that I want to create as a pop up. In this case, I have to find the technical capabilities to "flatten" this shape (and to let it pop out again). The sculptures in THIS video don't represent existing things so the working process was "inverted": At first I thought of a special technique – an then I created the figure, that suits best.

  • @lassehn (2/2) ... Most of my work is trial and error. I don't use a computer, when I create new pop up designs. The first steps are always handmade. Only if the card shall be produced as a serial product, I digitise my layouts in a later step. I don't know much about mathematics, I prefer to try things out in "real life". And yes: My artwork is NOT origami, so I use more than one sheet of paper. Some of my pop up sculptures consist of more than 50 pieces. Best, Peter

  • Thanks for sharing these! They're really pretty!

  • These are amazing! I wish I was as good as this :)

  • Wow. Love it!

  • This is just... AMAZING!!!

  • I'm sorry, but I don't know any teacher for paper engineering. I myself had no teacher, but learned everything by trial and error - and I am still learning. As a start, the books "Elements Of Pop Up" by David A. Carter and James Diaz and "The Pop-Up Book" by Paul Jackson may be helpful. You will learn most from your own experiences, if you practice a lot. Best, Peter

  • Hey, I commented a few days ago...do you know where I can find a Paper Engineering teacher to teach me these stuff? I am really interested in this. Art teachers are usually easy to find, but I have never heard of any Paper Engineering teachers? I live in Vancouver Canada.. Please feel free to give me any suggestions! Thanks!!

  • Can u please make tutorials for these???

  • @bestblaster I designed these sculptures to be single unique pieces, and I ask for your understanding that I don't give my plans away. But you can find links to more than 75 tutorials on my facebook fanpage. Please search for "Peter.Dahmen.Papierdesign" on Facebook. Best, Peter

  • Terrific work, Peter. Ausgetzeichnet!

  • Hi Peter,

    The pop-up sculptures are awesome!!!

Thanks for sharing these wonderful creations.

    Thumbs UP!!!

  • Great. Im enjoing

  • Make tutorials! :D

  • @TheIronDildo I created the pop up sculptures in this video to be single, unique pieces, so I ask for your understanding, that I won't make a tutorial for them. (Furthermore, they are really too complicated for a short video. I needed several days to create them, It would take some hours to explain all details.) But I already have made a tutorial-video for an impressive pop up card. Please search for "Amazing Pop Up Card Tutorial" in my YouTube channel. Best, Peter

  • Wow, these always blow my mind. Thank you!

  • Please Please Please I Really Need 2 Know How 2 Do The Last one ><

Okay I Might Do Some Of Them If I Had Time

But The Last One I Really Have To Take My Hat Of 4 U 4 That

    Really Really Really Really Amazing

  • @yazzook Oh, the last one? This is one of the most complicated pop ups that I have ever designed. I worked on it more than 9 days (including the creation of 2 previous models, that I needed to get the right measurements and angles).

Furthermore, I created this pop up sculptures, to be single, unique pieces. I don't want them to be copied at all. You can find hundreds of tutorials on the internet. Please try one of those. I published some links on my facebook-page: "Peter.Dahmen.Papierdesign"

  • @DesignPD Okay It's Actully Ur Right 2 Not Tell Me ><

But I'll Try 2 Do It

I'll Take The Video And Have a Look On It

But First I Think I'll Wait 4 Ur Approval If U Would Like That

Cuz I Know How Much Time & Effort This Take

I'll Try The Other Ones That U Post Until I Hear From You

  • @yazzook @CrispCards @IIsMisterMister On my facebook-fanpage, I published some links to tutorials. Please search for "Peter.Dahmen.Papierdesign" on Facebook. Best, Peter

  • Can u do a few tutorials? But otherwise u are amazing

  • @IIsMisterMister I already made a single tutorial, but I am planning to do some more. Please search for "Amazing Pop Up Card Tutorial" on my YouTube channel. Bets, Peter

  • amazing, i don't know if you speak english very well, but i think adding a black and white effect might make filming easier for you, because then it would only be the white of the paper, and the black background. all of you paper art are absolutely amazing!

  • @LlamaBoyProductions Many thanks for your hint! Actually, I have tried a black and white effect, but I found, that it made the video look to "clean" and a little bit as if it was something historical (like a silent movie). You are absolutely right: My video is really not perfect, but I thought, that it is more authentic to leave it this way (in colour). Best, Peter

  • @DesignPD oh :D okay :) i mean, i think they look great as they are, but in the background there were like a little bit of almost flickering, sorta thing. but yeah, i can see how it might give an aged look to it :D

    thank you for replying :)

  • Are there any tutorials for these type things?

  • @CrispCards Until now, I have only made one tutorial, but I will make some more in the future. Please visit my YouTube channel and search for "Amazing Pop Up Card Tutorial". Best, Peter

  • i like it!!

  • hammer

  • They're epic :D
