  • how do u get a license and is it in the us and in every state

  • are you in canada and if so who was your sponser to teach how to do falconry

  • whare did you by the adorable hawk and how much was he

  • When I get to the "I'm ready to trap" stage I hope it's a rescue situation like yours

  • Did you buy or capture your bird?

  • what a beautiful bird!!!

  • I got to see this bird up close her name is chico she was let go 3 years ago

  • How Long do you usually keep a Passage bird for?

  • nada mas satisfactorio q ver a tu rapaz saltar!!!!

  • I am very interested in taining hawks and other birds of prey. But I don't want to go into falconry. Do you know if there's something I can do with hawks that isn't falconry?

  • @PacificOrcas making pictures of them (photo's)

  • awesome video, really inspiring

  • Nice looking bird (except the messed up tail-looks like he was like that when you got him) The hallway training is way to small of an area to train in my opinion. I would never use that area so small. It surely would mess up the P6-P10 feathers. Keep doing it. I am sure in the last year you have learned alot of the dos and donts. Falconry is an awsome sport and lifestyle.

  • i dont see the tail it not red

  • How/Where do you get these birds?

  • @MonkeyPieshaha you have to have a falconry permit

  • @scottkjr I wish I had one..... I am thinking about getting one though.

  • @MonkeyPieshaha first you have to check the age that your state requires and you have to study alot about falconry the laws of falconry and some other stuff

  • im in the proses of taking the falconry test in PA my parents are still a little sketchy about it since im only 12

  • @scottkjr The minimum age is 14 for an apprentice I believe. Not sure how you can get a license at 12 under federal law. Unless PA is different.

  • @flyguyjimsd yeah i know but pa is different trust me ive checked like a million times and ive been studing for about a year

  • @scottkjr The minimum age is 16 in my state. I thought it was 16 in all states but I may be wrong. You should ask your state Fish and Wildlife office.

  • @ladymeserole yeah in pa it is 12 i ghave a sponcer

  • you have a beautiful hawk <3 <3 <3

  • i really what to get a bird is it a lot of work to train them and what do you need to have one m8

  • A red tailed hawk came into my back yard and picked my 6 kg rabbit and flew away

  • @RushHourful thats why no one takes rabbits outside unless they want to catch a hawk, why do you think the only time ppl take em out is when indoors? (or as hunting practice game)

  • ugghhhhh i want to soo bad but i live in a freaking apartmentttt

  • dont you have to have a special license and what would happend if you didnt wear the gloves and how much do they cost

  • Does anyone know when the age limit is for Washington?

  • @lovangelpie the federal law says 14 to have a permit, and an aprentice, and once your 18 you can be a general falconer if your already trained 2 years with sponsor

  • 14 years

  • What kind of requirements and how many hawks does a falconeer must have?

  • its better to train them outdoors. why do u have him on a creance he cant go anywhere

  • @fishpimp100

Better not to have an untrained RT flying around the house =)

  • @snikkers27

he was trained enough not to go around flying into windows. manning any raptor means spending mass amounts of time with them, consistently. so much so that i had him sleep in my bedroom for the first week that i caught him.

  • dog at the beggining!!!!! and wow retard maybe untrained bird of prey flyig everywere in the house

  • @packercarlsenac, some falconers when they catch their bird they'll show it around to everyone so the hawk knows they're friendly, and do not attack. But ya, it's dumb to train your Red-tailed Hawk in indoors.

  • dude you got to talk to a falconer who can help your keep your bird in better shape her tail is hurting and jazz this is a hen

  • sure her tail feathers look bad, but how do you know that she was not taken from the wild like this? I have captured wild hawks with damaged feathers more so than not! Looks like he is doing a great job with his bird, cut him some slack.

  • cool vid

  • is it a tercel or hen

  • O....

  • What the hell happened to this bird's tail feathers?! I don't think I've ever seen a redtail in worse condition than this.

  • Molting? Thats my guess the feathers around the Head are a lil bad too. and anyone know about the Falconry age limit in PA to start training?

  • @Worgenftw

If PA has adopted the new regs then the age limit is 12. Some states bring the age limit up, like WA is 14. Look it up on your dept. of fish and wildlife website, it will tell you.

  • where did u get ur bird

  • bless him

  • two weeks into training my hawk had 4 kills under its belt no joke

  • Mice doesn't count as a kill.

  • what she like out side if no good she ok for burgling people lol

  • nice bird,

but where are her tail feathers?

how many head of game did she catch?

  • inexperienced birds often break tail feathers during their first year,, worst case scenario was him

  • i see, i had a dark morph who busted most of her primaries!

  • @datrickit omg, so true about him being the worst scenario! I've seen many hawks getting their tail broken but this is the worst I've seen on a hawk... I hope he has a full tail now :)

  • II LOVE YOUR VIDEO - iwatchitlikeammilliontimesaday!

  • can you keep passage red tails,or do you have to let them go?

  • you can keep them

  • cant keep them if you dont have a license or the proper facilities. im sure you already knew that?

  • takes a while to get fully licensed, but its worth it

  • yea im workin on it right now

  • Beautiful Video!!!

Q: can you feed a raptor raw chicken and steak or does it have to be more towards their "wild/natural" diet? (mice, etc)

  • Wild is better as it's usually leaner. However, I feed my bird chicken sometimes. I just strip all the skin off, as that's the really fatty part.

Only when necessary though. Generally, if I want him to have some fat, I give him a quail or some other rich wild meat.

  • his name is chico and he was just let go 2009

  • Beautiful bird. Glad to see that some people are flying those males. My female flies at 1164 but to trap a bird at 750! WOW!!! He looks like he might have been on "his way out" when you trapped him. Lucky bird! How was his keel when you got him?

  • @MeaganDuffee I am sure there wasnt much left on it. It looks like he was definately on his way out and he is lucky he was caught. I hope he learned to hunt!!!

  • @MeaganDuffee i just found a baby redtail his wing is badly messed up and super skinny i gave him some raw steak and he eat it what do i need to do to keep him leagel wise?

  • you have done well with the bird seeing as u have explained what condition you have gotten it in. try feeding it less befor hunting so ur bird is more keener and aware, you should also do this in training and make the bird work for its food by giving it little instead of large as u did in this video. you will see a greater result.

  • bro, if he caught him at 750 why not raise his weight with a little extra food rewards during training? do you know how little a 750g hawk is?

  • 750g??? wow... poor guy...

I just got my imm. male red tail a few weeks ago. His name is Tobias.

  • cool video, I would love to do falconry some day.

  • i know the kid with the hawk

  • Great video :). I am studying to take the apprentice test right now, and watching videos like this is always inspiring.

Just curious, what happened to her train? Was it that way when you trapped her?

  • yea its really sad. He was only like 750 grams when i caught him. His lower beak was overgrown to the point where he couldn't close his mouth. His tail feathers were all broken as well as a few of his primaries. In the video it shows pretty much how he looked when i trapped him, although i raised his weight since then. During manning he didnt break any feathers. He's doing great, took his first squirrel a week ago. Keep it up, good luck with your license.
