I used to go watch Hank in person at The Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas. Later I did get to do some shows with him and Cliffie Stone who used to be his manager.
When I listen to Hank Thompson's music, I like to close my eyes and imagine a dusty honky-tonk with happy men and women dancin' and drinking beer as his terrific bouncy songs flow from an old jukebox! I love Hank's voice and his backup band could not be beat! God rest his soul.
@lyleslarder Personally, I think he sounds nothing at all like Hank Snow. Snow was Canadian and had NO Southern accent. Thompson was Texan and had an unmistakeble sound. I've lived all my life in Nashville, grew up on country music, they are both great, but sorry, they don't sound alike.
Awesome video, of my favorite singers. I have file sharing program. but hanks family won't be losing any cause I ain't sellin' nothin. just thank you because it's damn hard to find real country music these days I'm only 25 still to young t'know who thompson is,but i've said enough already sojust thank you
PeeWee Whitewing is my father. I sent him a link to the video as I am sure that he will enjoy seeing it. Thanks for posting it. The question is... how can we get a copy?
Roger: You're making me shiver all over when I hear Hank do these great tunes of the 50's & 60's. Great seeing PeeWee and Bob white playing those twin steels; The greatest Big Band sound in those days of C/W Music.Thanks, Bernie
bless you for osting this song hapeters! i guess i was 14 when i used to listen to this song. remember other songs of the time? hank williams- hey good lookin. who sang honky tonk angels followed by it was god that made honky tonk angels? wasn't that c&w when it was music?
Nowadays, country singers don't talk about 3 men in a tub.

@1:58
CLEVER GUY, THAT HANK THOMSON:
IF I´M CORRECT, HE USED TWO STEELS:
ONE "HAWAIIAN" STEEL GUITAR & ONE PEDAL STEEL.
THEIR PLAYING IS DIFFERENTLY APPROACHED.
I´M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN PLAY THE HANK THOMSON
"TRADE-MARK" LICK ON THE PEDAL STEEL GUITAR.
WELL, AT LEAST IT PROPABLY DOESN´T COME OUT THE SAME.

Great, Hank Thompson had classical trained vionlists (fiddlers) with his band. He is a great talent.

@latykai Kitty Wells. She is still alive and I think she still does shows. She married Johnny Wright of Johnny and Jack.
