1961 Les Paul JUNIOR you must mean as they did NOT make any Les Paul Standards or Customs in 1961 I owned 2 Sampson era DC/30's and never liked them. I'll take a real 60's AC30 any day
I know. An amp like this I think you have to approach it different. Id be at the sellers house with a screwdriver in my hand before I splashed the cash. No way would I by unseen unless it was from a shop.
@CJsoccer4 ye they made a new les paul shape in 1959 due to a drop in sales in 58 (ironically, looking back on it)... it was the shape of what we know as an sg and called a les paul sg... les paul complained (kind of) because he didnt design it or have any roll in its design so he requested they took his name if it... so in 1963 they stopped calling it a les paul and it became just the SG... didnt need les pauls name on it after all... great guitar in its own right... sorry... im a bit of a nerd
@Malsh90ToPresent Accord to Les Paul, his problem wasn't that he didn't design the SG, it was how flimsy the neck joint was. 'Course, that's flimsy by 1959 standards. In 1959 they thought an M1 Abrams was kind of flimsy (citation needed).
@telecasterman18 - They originally shipped with a Greenback and a Matchless modified Vintage 30. This combination sounded better to me than the current Greenback/G12H30.
Yes, the Gibson SG was originally called a Les Paul, without Les Pauls consent. Les Paul put an end to it's production, I think by filing suit. It was not until 1968 when the les paul as we know it resurfaced, with mini humbuckers as well.
@jaqbFromPL in 1961 Gibson changed the body style of the Les Paul to what is today known as the Gibson SG. Les Paul (the person) hated the body style, and eventually Gibson gave that body style its own name (SG). So a 1961 Les Paul is essentially a Gibson SG, but it's called a Les Paul. Just thought I'd share because I thought it was interesting.
@johnnyleetone they still made les pauls in 1961.... it could just be a 1961 les paul shaped les paul and not an SG. to clarify, not all 1961 les pauls are SG shaped (thank god)... only some. that said, he may well be playing a SG shaped paul, we'll never know because it isnt shown in the video.
@worldindusa There were no 1961 Les Pauls built with the traditional body style. Every Les Paul from 1961 is what we know as an SG. If you can find a 1961 Les Paul with the traditional body style, let me know. I will sell my house to buy it!
@stymye i have the bc30 and it sounds fucking amazing. you can jumper the channels (can you do this with the matchless?) and it sounds like audible sex. in the next few weeks i will have a new recording program and will try to make a vid
This is a Ceriatone amp, made for a thief in Colchester called Taylor Goldstraw

Maybe someday I will have a Matchless. Until then, I can only dream. Sort of like a celebrity crush, I suppose.

I know these come with a Greenback and a G12H30, but would it sound good just to get two Greenbacks?
