  • I was good at the icy races. It never got old sliding around the corners.

  • One of the earliest racing games on the Atari 2600! I think this is the second one, there's another one from 1977... Anyway, my best Atari 2600 racing game is Enduro, nothing compares to it. But I still like this game, specially the ice track :)

  • Love this game. So much fun with a friend. Best racing game on the 2600 hands down.

  • my relatives and i were competing in this game like hell during my birthday party. it was so addictive that we played it for six hours non-stop!

  • Could the padle controller be used?

  • Some people don't know that there was another game made by Atari called race and it's the exact same game

  • @TheAbbster79 That's the Sears version, they just changed the title of it.

  • I had this game and the paddle controllers when I was a kid. I loved it.

  • lol wtf

  • That "hit the block" thing is ahead of it's time, very "Mario Kart"-esque in concept.

  • Nice! Next up: GRAN TRAK 10, the FIRST racing game! :D

  • ...so obviously, it's ice

  • sprint master shoul've used the driving controllers t would of been a fuck load easier

  • Surprised nobody pointed out the easiest way to win, was to cross the start/fingish line, make a hard left, and keep it there. You just do donuts around the line, and click away about 3 laps for every single lap someone actually racing the course would get. :)

  • @georgef551 ...is that really works?

  • @TheSpyChecker

Yes, it does. I used to get people angry by winning in this manner. :)

  • @georgef551 hmm....i dont like using these kind of words, but..LOL...now, that perfectly fits! :D

  • @TheSpyChecker

One of these days, I got to dust off my 2600, and make a video of an easy win. Not sure when....

  • @georgef551 atm! (: thatll earn a sub from me, at least

  • @TheSpyChecker

To be honest, you'll not really like what's on my channel.

It's mostly previews of products, car washes, and elevators.

I will add 2600 vids at some point. Still figuring out execution.

  • @georgef551 emulator+fraps i have full version of it, so just toss me a message n i send it for you...or upload it somewhere

  • @TheSpyChecker

I have what it takes, I just got to figure out vioice traack overlays, or if I can mix them, with what I've already got.

  • @georgef551 ah..well. good luck on that! looking forward (:

  • @georgef551 anyways, subbed so i cn see when ull release it :D

  • @TheSpyChecker

Okay. It might be sooner than later. (Work is very busy, so I haven't had time for anything.)

  • this game reminds me of what RC PRO AM would look like if it was on Atari.

  • Power sliding time.

  • can you play with the normal control too? because I don't have the other that you show...

  • I was a maze craze fanatic myself.

  • WOW

this looks like something out of trailview (or whatever you call it)

  • This game was fun. Any racing game that lets you go off-track, even if there's nothing really to see, just wins the prize in my book.

I wonder what the physical difference between the paddle controllers and these.

  • im getting a atari so i will get this after i get A Driving controller.

  • Are the driving controllers compatible with games like Super Breakout?

If not, I've just spend 15 bucks on Ebay for nothing... *sigh*

  • @ Ap0ske

    Unfortunately, no.

  • I should really learn to look up things I wanna buy before I bid... Oh well xD

  • good with a lot of other games though.

  • they should be.

  • Well, I just picked this up with 2 driving controllers; me and my girlfriend will be having some old-school fun tonight:)

  • bow-chicka-bow-wow

  • You sly dog!

  • COOL

  • Sprint Came out in 1976

Indy 500 came out in 1978

    Sprint came first.

Consoles back then often tried to bring the arcade expirence home.

  • Its ok but i dont have one where can i get an atari2600

  • still play this game to this day....racing on the ice is like dirt track racing

  • *Cries a little, wipes my eyes* *Sniff* I so remember this game. Me and my brothers would play it so much. Even found ways to cheat and get laps done quicker without having to go all the way around! Thanks for posting!@

  • Sprint came out in 1976 and indy in 1978. You must confused it with super sprint (1986).

  • Clearly this game is based on the arcade game SPRINT with other features added. If you play Sprint and any of it's sequels, you will see the similarities.

  • This game came out WELL before "Sprint" did. If anything, Sprint was based on this game.

    -SAVATS

  • Wow this game looks like a lot of fun especially that other mode where the players compete and try to touch the square before the other player.

I don't remember the driving controllers though hmmm...anyhow I'm a big fan of Super Sprint (it was a arcade game and also released on the NES by Tengen). It had the same viewpoint and a similiar control style. This game looks like a precursor to it in that regard.

  • The best part about the old 2600 games was the art on the Boxes and cartridges. They were usually good quality illustrations. Of course, the graphics were another story. I miss my old 2600...

  • I didn't grow up in the Atari era, but my frist game system was an atari 2600 as a hand me down from my aunt. and I remeber these games. I wish I still had that Atari 2600. And seeing this game reminds me of pro-am for the sega Genesis.

  • pretty good review, simple game yet fun

  • I like these reviews. Nothing fancy, just straight ahead for the topic.

  • As a citizen of Indianapolis, I feel that it's my proud duty to say, the Indy 500 sucks.

Now the Atari 2600 Indy 500 looks far more entertaining then the real Indy 500.

  • cool, i got this game, but i wish i had some driving controllers :-P
