Hey dude, with fingerpicking I was wondering if it is a bad habit to rest my right pinky under the strings rather than keep it hovering above the 6th string etc.? I dont want to get into any bad habits!! Thanks!
the tutorials are great for a seventy six yearold that is starting again after 58 years but that intro is awful - especially after fifteen or twenty watchings Thanks anway
is the root note the note the thumb should be picking, if so, is the root note of the d chord not the g string, with the g string being the highest note of that chord ? or is it the other way, were the top 3 strings r used for you thumb no matter what chords u r playing, if so that makes sense, as the d chord would naturally be the d string for thumb, confuseddotcom lol will u send me a list of the strings my thumb should b hitting wile finger picking chords 2keep this kind of pattern please,
Maybe you can get a little inspiration from my new video. I was sick and couldn't sing, so I sat on the sofa and played a little guitar, only finger picking.
Thank you so much for these videos. I have tried to find other videos out there, but your videos go directly to the point and easy to follow. Once again, thank you for the help.
if you're name is Rob Schumann, you should be a pianist instead of a guitarist :P but people probably say that every day (or every month perhaps, but still...)
@OpenHeavenFellowship Your nails don't need to be that long in order to get a bright attack. You just need about 1/8" of nail. This dude is obviously a classical (nylon string) guitarist... thus the super long and highly manicured, I'm guessing acrylic, nails.
@Hoopermazing Yours is the accurate explanation to those who are posting comments, wondering about fingernails and manicures. Among professionals, this is commonly the care taken in order to consistently play and achieve the proper tone/resonance from the string and the instrument.
brilliant, ive taught myself guitar since i was 16, now 22, and never bothered with fingerpicking cause i thought it was too hard, this has changed my mind i havent learnt anything new in years, this rocks!
Not at all. You don't need long nails to finger-pick. However, if you find it difficult, you could always try using thumb/finger picks instead... or just stop biting your nails :P
hey, was already fairly ok at picking (even if i say so myself lol) but had picked up some bad habits that were really holding me back, this helped a tonne :-)
iVideosongs rocks! Thanks so much for the free lessons and the song lessons on your website by the original artist. What a great idea and very well done! Awesome!

Hmm, if you're just learning fingerpicking, you're still a long ways off from playing Bensusan (referring to the clip at the end of the video).

@cudi2212 You mean resting it stretched? Yeah, that's a bad habit since all your fingers should be relaxed, keep it hovered, mate. It helps.
