  • These are the ones by spiegelhoffs super valu right 30th and 80th?

  • Comment removed

  • heck yes smoke is.

  • is it still in use?.

  • Did you report this?

  • I know P-50's have loud motors, but this one sounded bad. I think when they "refurbished" it, they just buffed it to a shine and that's it. That, or they did a piss poor job on rewinding the motor.

  • how was that a fail? the siren tests in kenosha have been that short for a while now.....

  • @stevechambers500 The siren was supposed to go off a while longer than this. It failed, and shut off. Notice the weird wind down.

  • @ACAPenetrator50: oh I see. sounds like it was struggling to stay on.

  • @stevechambers500 Yeah, I think the motor couldn't take it any longer

  • @ACAPenetrator50: yeah. oh jeez i just remembered a few years ago in the summer, the sirens kept going off at random on a day in the middle of the week. i was just walkin home from the local gas station, and every five minutes, a 2 second tornado siren would go off and stop. The weather wasnt even close to tornado weather. it was just a normal sunny day.

  • Did this P-50 ever get fixed, or are they going to wait like they do with everything else down there? Didn't the old siren just rotate without sound? It does sound like a dropped leg, but I am curious as to what the "service dept." said it was.

  • well, that was interesting

  • That would be a classic dropped leg.

  • ouch! poor P-50. which one was this at? Snap-on?

  • @amtrak3501 Yes, however this is the first time it was tested (it's a refurbished unit).

  • @hen7713 right i saw that it was the 1st test since it was refurbished, just didnt know what the location was.where did the other one come from, (in your pics) downtown? i remember only seeing 3 P-50's (not counting the one in this video) in Kenosha. forgot to say nice video, btw.

  • Great video. Something may have happened to the motor. Looks like its blowing smoke or something out of the projector at 0:07

  • Wow. It sounds like it's being strangled of it's power at the end.

  • Sounds like it's attempting to do Whelen's Best Possible Protection signal or such...

  • Sounds like it dropped a leg and OL kicked it off

  • that was wierd.

so these sirens use collector rings? maybe they overheated and warped or something.

  • Either that motor just took a shit, or the motor starter did. Never heard one do that before, strange... Liking the HD, looks good!

  • @murrfarms I love it that crap like this had been happening with all of the sirens Fulton Technologies has refurbished

  • @hen7713 Haha yeah, sounds to me like they're cutting corners on their "refurbished" sirens. It looks pretty no doubt, but it makes you wonder if they did anything at all in the way of inspecting it mechanically, especially the two motors.

  • @murrfarms Send the P-50s to ASC, they do good restorations.

  • @murrfarms Sounds like the motor starter couldnt hold it so when it started to fail the OL protection probably kicked in. just a theory

  • @hen7713 i noticed when this p50 started up , it looked like smoke coming out of the horn and then when the p50 was facing the other direction you heard the electric hum
