Wow thats great!!! Take down a historic building that brought us wondeful events for a parking lot!!! Who needs hockey and concerts when we can have the Long Wharf Theatre!!! Destefano should get another 50 years in office!!!
NEW HAVEN= NO CIVIC PRIDE
If all you people that showed up and cheered that day actually showed up and supported the place it would still be standing

man that was depressing to watch last time I was in there was in 2000 with my brother and sister and my mother we saw wizard of oz on ice RIP new haven coliseom it was like a studios
Hey Ironman I guess you are on Destefano's payroll ya dope. The building was fully functional to the point the hockey team wanted a 5 year lease!!!!! Destefano hated sports and hated the building that is the ONLY reason it was brought down.
All you people who say they should have left it standing, Do you know why it was blown up? It was rusted beyond repair and falling apart. If you miss it so much you can try to find the piece in the Beijing Olympic Stadium, it was recycled into it.

Cool video... Sad to see it go, even if it wasn't the best venue for a concert, it had a lot of heart. Saw some great shows there over the years, including my first Grateful Dead show, twenty-five years ago today.
All of you morons who cheered this are idiots. We lost a great building that served the community entertainment and was loved by thousands. Now we have a parking lot, clap at that.
and with that the memories come crashing down, anyone remember then concerts were 6.50 to 8.50 a seat. i seen my first concert there, kiss 1/76. maybe they put up a shopping mall, now thats intertainment.
That was really cool ! I went to my first concert there. The place had awful acoustics anyway. Besides that it was a memorable venue.. Lots of partying took place there.
Nice video! I was standing right near you early on, but then I went down one level and it was way warmer than up on the roof, and we stood right along with rail for a great view. Watch in the implosion video by CTBob to see where we ended up. Plus, I shot with two cameras, which was fun. But damn, it got cold up on that roof!
The site will be a parking lot for the next 30 years. Mark my words. Nothing will be built on the site. Typical New Haven. Typical DumbStefano!

You're not missing a whole lot. 34 homicides last year, and named the FBI's 4th most dangerous city in America!

This is a good vid. And Ironman, your'e wrong, it wasn't all that damaged. New Haven could of had an easy job fixing it up.
