I like the original and saw this come up. I hate the fact that people make money off making a mockery of good songs.
to be honest, I like mustard plug's cd version and this just shows how edited his voice is. This concert seems like it was nothing more but annoying noise.
@pureplayaa no you idiot the sound quality sucks for this video, i have seen mustard plug before and they were fucking amazing, they sound so good live. so obviously u have never been to one of their shows

this cover sucks i give mustard plug respect for playing ska for whoever likes it but bad cover you dont need to take an awesome song and turn it into what i thin sounds like shit
Yeah, ska came first. Mustard Plug is an amazing third wave band, though its old stuff still has two-tone roots, like Skank by Numbers. I'm not sure if Streetlight Manifesto is "fourth-wave" (if there such a thing)or if they're even ska at all. Either way Streetlight is by far one of the best bands around.
pretty much. It's now 2008 and the 3rd wave is long dead, but great bands like Mustard Plug and Pietasters are keeping it alive. Here's hoping more bands follow in their footsteps.
we're not in any phase, there's bands that do ska, skacore, and 3rd wave. Skacore is pretty much signature to the mighty mighty bosstones. Streetlight Manifesto is whats being called 4th wave (hence the name of the song, Riding The Fourth Wave). This time period isn't really too specific to any one type of ska. Ska has pretty much 3 principal things, brass (or a touch of woodwind), some instrument playing on the up/off beat, and usually a heavy bassline (though not always).
But I definately doubt Ska came out in the 1950s. I bet it was in like the 1930s but got popular in the 50's and went over to Europe. Then made its way to America. Then 2007.. ITS EVERYWHERE! And Punk with horns would be Ska-core. Like Against All Authority.
it's not fuckin 30...ska started in 50's and was sucess only in the 60's with Desmond Dekker in Jamaica and UK...today we're listenin to skacore...totally different from the original ska
Well its time to own some people. Ok so Ska came before raggae. Raggae and Punk branched from Ska. There is three waves of ska. First wave was slow, regular old Ska. Second was two-tone. Third wave is a more upbeat go crazy skankin style of music. Like Ska-core.
sorry dude, reggae came far before ska, hence the different waves. first wave was reggae, second wave was two-tone, third wave is ska, and fourth wave is more of a streetlight manifesto sort of ordeal. it doens't matter though cause mustard plug fucking rocks.
First off it's REGGAE not raggae big difference, and shows what you know. Ska came from jamaica in a form called REGGAE and in Britain in the fifties, in which the skinhead thing originated. and eventually turned into ska. First wave- Toots and the maytals
That's the point. It's not supposed to be up beat, that's why they turned it into an up beat song. That's what punk does. If you don't like it, don't listen to punk.
is everybody absolutely sure this is mustard plug? becuz ive never seen them live, but in their studio stuff, they don't sound like elmer fudd when they sing
this guys rock way better live, last time i saw them was at the flint local432, they closed with this song. it was awesome, but im not goin back to flint thats for sure lmao.
Personally, when I hear this cover, I wonder why hasn't everyone heard this. Totally blows the original out of the water. This vid is kind of shit, but not even that can hide the genius of Mustard Plug!
Ugh, what a way to ruin a classic song. Good job guys.

brass isn't a requirement (though I do like it) but i mean op ivy and leftover crack are definitely ska with no brass.
also, the bosstones? skacore?
I think a better example would be the flaming tsunamis or maybe the glow skulls.
just my thoughts

actualy the song "riding the fourth wave" was written like mid 90's by kalnoky when he was with catch 22...just thought id say
