I miss gardening in my home town of Pittsburgh PA, living now in Oregon it sucks for growing in my area, even though there are a ton of closed down farms... hum, they all closed up wonder why. I grew an awesum cucumber plant one year they were huge, grew so many was giving them out to the neighbors. I cant get anything edible to grow except a few tiny underdeveloped tomotoes.
if you have pinched your plants, they would have grown shorter but almost same amount of fruit, and if you did prune them they would have given you less fruits but better quality
I tried the upside down Topsy Turvy thing and my tomato plant died but I can't think why? I didn't change anything with the watering, and I gave it plant vitamins but it just gave up. Luckly i have four other tomato plants, Two are regular and two are Beefmaster. If you could offer any reasons as to why it may have died please let me know because I want to try and grow something upside down again. By the way, nice plants.
It got about 6-8 hours of sun everyday so I can't really think of why it may have died. It did fine for about 6 weeks until it started growing some tomatoes, then for some reason all the leaves dried up and it died. I can see why it would have died not having any leaves but I can't think of what caused the leaves to dry up so suddenly, unless the tomatoes were to much of a strain on it.
Great Garden Jason. Everything looks yummy.. I might be coming to your house for dinner in a few weeks. j/k.... anyway, I am about to load my video. A little disappointing compare to yours but maybe next year.
Things are looking real good there in your Georgia garden! Glad to see all those happy peppers...you've got lots more than I do here in my New York garden! Keep up the good work! -George from Rye, NY
I cut up the red peppers and put them on a white pizza and it was awesome.
You are right about some plants doing better in pots than others. I've seen some folks that have upside down containers where their plants are doing better than mine even though they planted later. I've also seen some that are not as far along. So I guess sometimes mother nature just confuses me. Thanks for watching.
I used Green Light Blossom End Rot spray. I got it at Lowes or Home Depot. It is a concentrate that you mix with water and then spray on the plants that need it. It was pretty cheap too.
The only bugs I had were on my yellow squash/zucchini plants that were in my square foot bed. They were squash bugs and I used the "Sevin" brand bug spray to help get rid of them. That spray (and they also make a powder) get rid of pretty much any type of bug you may come across in a veggie garden.
Beans - don't worry if the bottom leaves discolour and die off because my experience has been that after this happens the flower buds appear at the leaf joint. Everything with beans happens from the bottom up. When the leaders reach the top of the frame cut them off and the plant will produce new stems from the bottom and your crop will multiply dramatically.
Thanks for those tips. I didn't read up too much on the beans. I knew they grew pretty quick, but didn't know when the actual beans come. You are right about the bottom leaves turning yellow. At first I thought something was wrong, but it was only the bottom ones.
Those leaders on my first set are way pasted the top so good to know I can cut them off. Thanks again!
I'm doing an update video on my garden later this week so I'll do a look at my beans which are producing and doing all the stuff I talked about. I'll send you a PM and if you are interested you could have a look.
Beautiful. I originally had all my tomato plants in the ground, but after seeing your videos I decided to plant a couple in homemade upside down planters. I chose Husky Cherry Red tomato plants to invert; so far it has been extremely low-maintenance as the thick stalk and foliage easily support the weight of the small cherry tomatoes which have arisen as my best producer.
Hey glad you are trying upside down as well. The cherries definitely support the weight the best, though I haven't had an stalk breakage issues on any of the others either. Good luck with them.
This is excellent !!! I like your work!
I have raisenbeds..Thank you...
Bests regards from France.

Not sure why they would have died if watered properly. Did they get enough sun? That is the only thing I could think.

Interesting you have no beans yet. I'm almost done with harvesting mine, and I'm a lot further north than you are.

I luv to see peppers turn red.
Wow, You were ahead with some plants and then suddenly I was with some.
I think from observation that some plants do better in pots and others do better in the ground.
We must explore this more.
Great vid, thanks for sharing.

Garden is looking great!
Had a question. Have you had any bug problems at all? What do you do to control any bug?
