@Sexpansion Here I disagree. 1. Because that role was out of his fach. Of course, with patient, tremendous practice he would have sung it very well, he sang other lyric roles and more than proved what he could do. But, I am coming to the second reason: 2. the character was not for him. Remember Corelli was the doomed Romantic hero, conveying the utmost tragic feelings, not a shallow duke in constant search of fun.
@corellipavarotti sorry the highest note is a B natural sorry the final note is an A natural. i was talking about the highest note lol i should have read more closely =P
How many times does he have the word "mortal," some 6 times (3+3) in a row? And every time he says/sings it differently! Actors would find it difficult at the spoken theater, but to sing this way is virtually humanly impossible.
EXPLOSIVE!!!
UNIQUE!!!

Very good interpretation. I still prefer Pavarotti for this aria and then Raimundo. I like Corlli in Aida better.

Bravo!

Corelli sang Verdi so well in his prime. It's a shame he didn't get a chance to sing Duca in Rigoletto, I think he would have rocked it.

A very beautiful interpretation. I really appreciate the slow tempo; I wonder if it's more challenging to hold a steady note when singing slowly?
