The intent of "the right to bear arms" is for purposes of a militia, our present day National Guard. It was never intended for anything else but for a gendarme. There's nothing about rifles for personal privilege, such as hunting or hill billying, found in the second.

The problem with your argument is that you're intentionally truncating the first part of the amendment - "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state." The prefatory clause in the second elucidates the operative clause.

Verdugo that when the Constitution and its amendments use the phrase "the people" it can always be interpreted "individuals." This would include "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." The U.S. Code defines militia in Title 10, section 311 as "all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age...." The second amendment means the citizens.

Mr. Kucinich is speaking for hundreds of thousands of Americans who are outraged at Cheney and Bush and their entire gang for the numerous crimes they committed for the past 8 yrs. Bush and Cheney, along with congress, butchered our constitution,country, and our economy. They left a mess that Obama won't be able to fix. Paul/Kuncinich would be change we need but won't be given a fair chance.
