True, if you grip the nunchaku high up, close to the rope/chain, you have more control over it and you can roll it quicker in a combat.

But if you grip it down, near the end, you will have WAY more power in the strikes.

You need to hold the chucks farther down the handle you are sacrificing speed and power.
