@8marsu89 allergy :::(((( i can replace some products but it will not be the same taste... i wish to know how it tastes, many people loves it so it must be good
@doopeuebladeue you could try to find a store near you, where you can buy some.. or if you have friends who are able to get some, ask them if they can bring you some.
@tigerbalm007 French Macarons are generally created by whipping the egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form. Which appears to be a "meringue". Italian Macarons have same procedure except instead of whipping the egg whites, The sugar is boiled with water first then added to lightly frothy egg whites. However, Both look the same and taste the same. I'd say the reason why most are confused is this term Macaron is derived from an Italian word. Also, As I said, French Macarons appear the same.
@tigerbalm007 Of course. I'm not sure if you enjoy Walnuts but they're suited and generally affordable too. But, Peanuts are commonly substituted and fine.
wow...i never tasted these. I didnt know what macaroons were, but i checked up in my local supermarket and they are like coconut biscuits, the ones i hate!..maybe thats the British version? lol
@bizila2008 I see, well thankyou for pointing that out, but everyone gets the names mixed up & the only macaroons i knew were the coconut ones, but obviously they are not the same.
@lozzymagoo No problem:) I know it's confusing. Some ppl say the words are interchangeable but I am French speaking and macaron usually refers to little colored pastries with all kinds of flavours whereas macaroon often refers to the shredded coconut kind that we call "Congolais" or other names.
@bizila2008 Yes, These are Macarons and not Macaroons. However, Macaroons originally contain ground almond. Generally more ground almond is used then Macarons. The flavor is personal preference based though and coconut can be used instead. But there is no specific ingredient used for flavoring with either Macaron or Macaroon.
Awwhh, this video reminded me of the french bakery in Calgary that made these. :( I miss Macaroons. They dusted theirs afterward with colored edible glitter. I think my favourite flavour they had was Strawberry Lychee (Lychee butter filling), and the Peanut butter and Jam one! So yummy.
I had my first Macaron in June during father's day weekend in Los Angeles at "The Little Next Door" on 3rd street. Salted Caramal. OMG, one of my new favorite desserts now! Loved your How To video, though I wouldn't complain if it were longer! This is my next project!
Where can you get more details on measuerments for these macaroons? How may egg whites, How much sugar? How much flour? Butter? This is a great video, but I don't know how much I need of each ingredient.
NYC may have Ladurée opening in July, and we've got the next best thing, Sucré in NOLA. Folks forget that NOLA is Paris in the USA. I most definitely will be there during the Essence Music Festival to purchase a dozen or two.
So gorgeous:) I made some myself for the first time, but the almond flour didn't get quite the way it should have so they turned out gross looking. These are just so pretty.
hi! this is reli awesome! :D .haha. but, shouldn't we wait for the macarons to form shell/thin crust before baking them? :) . i need to know! XD thanks! cool video btw :)

@JDsNola I can't find your sweet talk blog or a link. Can you please repost it or email it to me? those look amazing and i would love to try making them.
I have a question- I mean, these macarons look like heaven. Just the right amount of sheen, perfect color, etc. But you don't give amounts for anything (which I guess could be the point). Could you possibly tell us the amounts for the ingredients?
those are so cute! they look like the pretty patties or whatever from that one episode of sponge bob lol they are so cute ive neve had one but i wanna try :D
I'm confused. :S The other recipe, doesnt really make the sugar a syrup, But, will making the sugar syrup be more better? Cause people say this is the italian way, when it says "French Macarons" Thanks. :)
Nice, I'm a pastry chef, I was french trained 40 years ago.
The cost of the tant pour tante (white gold) and the rediculous amount of labor involved are enough to steer me away from doing macaroons on a regular basis, I only do them occasionally. Its hard to get the price to make it worth bothering.
@drumsweet well they are right both ways are correct i work at a place where we make them and both ways are correct our pastry chefs worked in france and said both ways are correct
hey i also have try to make the macaroon myself but just didnt come out like yours....did i did something wrong??...and why u need to add egg white again in the end??....

@justjuli26 Almonds are an optional ingredient for Macarons. Use less almond or use other flavorings instead. Any ground nuts are fine.
