  • these gw savings spots were the last for Duke I think. Then Dennis weaver took over. Those building are run by chase now.

  • What happened to the "great" actors? John Wayne, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Robert Mitchem, Gregory Peck, Jimmy Stewart.. etc. What do we have today?? Nothing but compterized cartoons!

  • Bien =)

  • John Wayne was the greatest hands down. There won't be another like him ever. Maybe if we had a couple more role models like him around are country wouldn't be in the situation it is.

  • my boss used to train horses for the former owner or whatever you would call him of western savings, and he gave him the bloopers of all the commercials the duke did for them, and after the commercials, he didn't want to do them for anyone else lol, funny stuff

  • Can I buy you a drink friend? "Nope" Why not? .....Because I don't like you!

  • I'm a fan of no one these day's, maybe my arrogant self. But, I will always be a fan of this guy!!!

  • TurkBlart his name is Duke and he is dead !

  • LOL

  • Turkey Blast, The Duque is dead and you cannot call him even if you could find your cell phone

  • a great man and a great actor RIP JOHN

  • today we tear down people we made idols kids need somebody or people in general a hero some one to look up to. john wayne agreat man respect him for that pilgrim or come out in the streets with your guns drawn

  • I did have a real hateful response to what you said But your stupid ass screen name says it all your hopeless

  • TODAY,we have leftwing liberal america bashers like sean [jew] penn, martin sheen, susan sarandon, danny glover,ed asner and the rest of the leer jet, latte liberal scumbags.Bring back conservsatives like the duke, lee marvin, jack palance, dana andrews, steve cochrane etc.

  • After******

  • that was his commercial fater his great movie "The Cowboys"

  • GREATEST.ACTOR.EVER. May god bless john wayne. R.I.P

  • you ain't see many movies then I guess

  • With a name like Marion you had to be bad or die.

  • Makes you want to open a new account, dosen't it!

  • JOHN WAYNE, ROBERT MITCHUM & KIRK DOUGLAS were the best three actors there ever was!!

  • Actually Wayne served the OSS under William J. Donovan during 43/44. So you are flat wrong on this one. As for racist, you are also completely wrong. Wayne was asked to be running mate to Alabama Governor George Wallace in 1968. Wayne made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with Wallace or his politics. So you are 0 for 2 and it makes you look like the shithead/asshole and not Wayne!

  • This S&L was new to Calif. and they had a short period of time to sell an image. 1 second of John Wayne does that, 30 seconds is incredible. This was one of the most enjoyable ad series at the time. Everyone always enjoyed watching them. The earlier ones had him galloping in but this was toward the end of his life. Dennis Weaver replaced him after he died. Back then you could actually sell a product with values instead of sex. It would be difficult to find a star that could do that today.

  • what prostitution... I never like celebs doing commercials. What's it say about the company? Product can't stand on its own?

  • No, when you have a star do the commercial, people will actually watch it and maybe, buy the product or something.

  • Kinda like'Here comes Mongo!"

  • Yup. It was Marion Michael Morrison...

But I'm glad he changed his name to John. He looked more like a John...A great name for a big, handsome guy like he was...RIP, John Wayne.

  • Marion Robert Morrison

  • My father loved John Wayne. He was a huge fan of his. RIP, John.

  • R.I.P John

  • Thanks for this commerical. I'm a big fan of John Wayne and this was nice to see.

  • Good for me to see John Wayne again even in an advertisement. Brings back alot of good memories growing up in the 50's.

  • It's called dialect Scoooooto, ya prick.

Also, if you're using ellipsis, it's traditionally three dots (not four), unless you want to end your sentence after the ellipsis following "though", in which case capitalise the leading letter in "you".

Accuracy in grammar reflects accuracy in thought, Scottttaaaa. Served.

  • John Wayne wisnae even a cowboy, he wis an actor! AND he was an arsehole into the bargain!

  • I bet he could spell, though....you idiot

  • @mrplayingdead Fuckoff you Scottish twat, to Americans, the Scottish to us English, are like the Mexicans to you.

  • @Colton8646 1 V 1 Quickscopes over it, I am Scottish also and do not appreciate that comment.

  • @Colton8646 Even if what he said was rude and unappreciative, I do not like the way you speak like that about Scots.

  • @Colton8646 There's nothing wrong with Scots, Mexicans or Americans. There's a major problem with racists however, as they have massive gaps in intelligence and education that others take for granted.

  • I hate what the US is becoming. A liberal politically correct cesspool where no one can say how they really feel for fear someone will label them a bigot or worse. John knew this and was not afraid to speak his mind. We all could learn a thing or two from John Wayne. RIP.

  • naw ya arnae

  • He was a real man who knew how to communicate with all sorts of people. Not like the wimps and wingers we see and hear now.I met him in England and he was just the same off as on screen.

  • AYE....john wayne IS an ARSEHOLE!!!!

  • aye very good wp2388.bit of a shit reply you made there.come on lets be honest with each other.john wayne wouldnt 'scrape' me.john waynes dead mate.get a gripe, move on, come to terms with it.he's an ARSEHOLE.....just like you.and whats the wp of wp2388 stand for?shit name really, couldnt think up anything more original...needed youtube to give you some random name was it?get a fucking life dude

  • John Wayne's is an arsehole

  • Damn, I miss him. When I see one of his flicks are on TV, I'm there.

  • 24 Lancelot

"Damn, I miss him. When I see one of his flicks are on TV, I'm there."

Amen to that! It's hard to believe it's almost been 30 years since he passed away. It's a tribute to his greatness that we still love watching him on the screen.

  • John Wayne was a Patriotic American who loved his country. The Libs are selling us down the river. Love America or get the hell out!!

  • If Libs get "off their meds" do they always blame others for their own bad choices in life? Do they harm others for beliefs different to theirs? Do they hate this country? Are they so negative that the bitterness eats away at their soul?

  • opinions are like assholes - everybody has one.

  • Why dont you back up your big mouth?

  • that's too bad. if john wayne is a talentless bigot that makes you about worth your weight in dog shit.

  • djneibarger

"john wayne was a talentless bigot "

I can only assume that you posted this to get attention. Unless you provide evidence to the contrary about the bigot comment, you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. As for talentless? You dont make >100 films over several decades without talent. He won "Best Actor" for "True Grit" in 1969. You dont get an Academy Award without talent!

  • dneibarger

"what a flat, meaningless, naive argument. countless talentless actors have huge film catalogs"

When he won the Best Actor award in 1969 (for True Grit), he beat:

Richard Burton, Anne of the Thousand Days

    Dustin Hoffman, Midnight Cowboy

    Peter O'Toole, Goodbye, Mr. Chips

    Jon Voight, Midnight Cowboy

That's a pretty good list of talent. I am not sure what standards you would use for judging talent then.

I didnt follow interviews, but if you did, then you know more.

  • Delusional, sport, is thinking that your opinion is worth the time it took for you to write it down. Let's see if anyone is writing anything about you, good or bad, nearly 30 years after you move on. You are an example of what's bad about the Internet--any uneducated, inbred idiot can voice his uninformed, pathetic opinion, and the rest of us are forced to read your garbage. And don't bother responding, you're not worth the time. After all, I know that I've done nothing when I've bested a fool.

  • If it wasn't worth it why'd you feel the need to post it. Could it be because it's a free country, and everyone has a right to stand on that perverbial box and put in his 2 cents?

  • john wayne is the best actor ever i have all his movies

  • ist doch wayne

  • GOD BLESS John Wayne

  • you tube

    Alex Jones Endgame part 6

explains how our gov is planning on walling off all rural areas and giving the lands to foreign nations - moving all of us to cities...please this is urgent! pass this on!

  • and what exactly does this have to do with John Wayne? Yet another geek, who could never get a date, and with too much time on his ( or her) hands

  • Wish it was still like the old west!!!!Thank you for posting!

  • john Wayne is the greatest man alive!!!!!

  • was

  • It would serve all well if a little history was researched before mouth is opened. John Wayne was not only 35 and married when WWII broke out, but he was unqualified for service due to a knee injury during a football game that ruined his football career which paved the way for him to become an actor later. Good lord people.

  • The Duke played his part... he showed us the values that we should fight for.

his contribution was as great as any solider

and his films will do the same for generations to come

  • amen to that

  • And he atleast made trips to Korea and Vietnam to show some support for the troops, even though there was an incident in nam with some marines that disrespected him. He showed up to support them and was wearin his Trademark cowboy, and they Laughed at him and told him to go home. Now most of these hollywood Pukes never visit them. I wonder how those Marines feel about him now...

  • @LordBicen Seriously fucking bastards.

  • What a beat legend. Fave actor and matbe fave man ever. I LOVE BIG DUKE. He may have opted not to go to WWII but still a legend in my heart. He is sorely missed by me and my family

  • henry ford went to Italy and portrayed the war as it really was.And they censored his footage.

John Wayne, nice enough fellow, made fantasy films about War and became a hero.

What does that say about the US and delusional infantile beliefs? Listen to your best people and stop aleinating them .

  • John Ford

Henry Ford of course was the car manufacturer who gave us the T model and later oppressed his work force.

  • John Wayne- The greatest American Legend who ever lived.

  • very good point !!!

  • As far as I know, you couldn't "opt out of the war". If they drafted you, you had to go. John Wayne was never drafted because he was too old and had a family. Granted, he could have enlisted, but at least he didn't flee the country when called to service like your noble Vietnam draft dodgers did. So bite me.

  • If he served or didnt serve, really dosent matter people during the war years needed a hero and john Wayne was that hero. He came to symbolize the american fighting man. In those days people got thier news from radio and news reals at the movie theater. If they got bad news on the news reels, john wayne and a number of other actors fixed it in the movie that followed. So even if he did miss his oppertunity for real I think he still did a service to the USA in his films.

  • hey fuck you john wayne is awsome

  • i agree with you 100%

  • good complaint

  • He didn't opt out of Military Service. Wayne was exempted from service due to his age.He remained 2-A until the war's end. John Wayne clearly did not "dodge" the draft.

Why not stick to the truth next time. John Wayne did.

  • a true American icon

  • john wayne is and always will be my hero , he knew right from wrong portrayed in his films, never swore and really did have an 'on screen' prescence im a brit and he is the man

  • The man was a legend. I still luv his westerns.....he had a certain charm

  • Well I think all his movies were good, some great. Yeah someone already said that, I just wanted to reinforce it.

  • No Duke, sorry they all were good, Some were Great. Thanks Dude.

  • The Duke is a legend.

  • Wayne shot this on August 25, 1978. It was taken in the Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA. I can take you to the exact spot he was at; I know the area rather well. Thanks for posting this!

  • he's my cousin

  • brillent loved it

  • Still makes me want to open an account.

  • anyone know what year he shot this?

  • yeah it was 1977..wat a legend

  • wow just a year before he die right?

    thanks for the info :)

  • nah e died in 1979..actually e wud have been 100 this year on 26th may

  • oh yeah 1979! 5:23pm, on June 11.
