I was lucky to take part in a sesshin with Shodo Harada in France not long after Mumon roshi's death (circa 1983) , he came to our zen center with Taitsu Kono Roshi and I was in charge of posting their poscards to japan and choosing a present for him at one of the local shops. He struck me as a simple and unassuming monk, full of energy and he looked you right in the eyes.Great memories! soon after that 2 of our resident members went to live in his monastery (Sogen-ji).
