  • All the AFB looks the same.

  • Aww man! I miss that place so much!! We lived in tower 212, I was there from 2005-2008 in Vehicle Maintenance and RFM. What year was this video taken?

  • @mulletcar Thanx for watching. This was taken about 3 years ago.

  • I got a question?

how do u get a car? in JAPAN

  • @luzanillajr As long as you got the cash and a parking permit its simple. Just go to a car dealer which there are plenty and make a deal.

  • Looks nothing like it did when I was there. 1956 and 57. I was there for 18 months. Have some great memories. We had F-86's then! I worked in supply, we had a warehouse right on the flightline.

  • @saskekun101 do you mean for a normal tour, how long do you stay there or how long was i there?

  • I hate Misawa.

  • i was there from 02-05. man i miss it. I was POL

  • @doug8751 how long do you stay there in the airbase?

  • So what are you doing in Misawa again?

  • I was there from 89 to 99. Always a Samurai. I'm told part of my jet is still there, sitting in front of the NCO club

  • was born here and left at 8 years old, I really miss it and the beach :(

  • I was there 89-91. Worked the Phase Dock. Back then it was the 432nd TFW. Is Companions still in Misawa? I remember the Fried Gyoza and boneless chicken. I loved that place

  • Oh my god! I miss that base so much! I'm so glad you put this video up! I grew up there and even still I get homesick thinkin' I"ll never see it again! This was awesome! Thanxs

  • Glad this video brought back good memories for you. If you remember your house number I could possibly get a clip of your old house. Of course if its still standing(^^). Lots of rebuilding at Misawa lately.

  • Aww thank you! I appreciate that but I know our house is already gone. My neighbor told me about it a few years back but I'll ask my pops. Maybe you can get a clip of what the area looks like now. What about Green Pole Road? Does it still look the same? Have they re-named it since the poles arent green anymore :)

  • @markee1969

Yeah, thanks. I miss this place too. Plan on returning to visit one day

  • i lived in japan from 2000-2004 might be moving back for aother 2 years

  • also what are you driving sound like a supra

  • Unfortunately its not a Supra. Just a little car with a V6.

  • @markee1969 what litte car do you have then?

  • I'm going to live on base with my brother for 3 years

  • i used to live there 6 years ago when i was 5

  • Was at Misawa from 86 to 88 in POL. Have heard there has been many changes

  • Jim, we must have just missed each other back in 86. Thats about the time I left Misawa the first time. If you went to High school here we might know some of the same people.. Anyways,, yeah this place has changed a lot.

  • I was there around that time 85-87, in Physical Exams & Flight Surgeon's Office. I heard there is a new hospital now. It was a bunch of small buildings connected by crooked hallways. Shopping area in downtown was called "Yellow Brick Road" because street poles were yellow.. Frequented Red Dawg bar, and Thousand Yen buffet, where you cook your own food...lol. Would like to see some pics of new hospital, especially Flight Surgeon Office if anyone has them. Also, look for my lost dog tags there :)

  • Is "Neutral" still in "The Alley"? it was a 24 hour eatery at the 1st bend of the alley outside of the main gate. Fleet Reserve & American Legion sat at the entrance to the alley. When it snowed, cars wandered off of roads and ended up in ditches, so they put tall bamboo stakes to mark the roadsides.

  • HPPC, unfortunately good old Neutrals is gone. Yeah, I use to go there a lot myself after getting drunk! The ALLEY has changed. Misawa city is working on a project called AMERICA MURA which means american village in english and due to this they have torn down all old buildings to contruct new shops. Its gonna be a disaster though!

  • To everybody watching, Misawa city is going through lots of changes hoping for good things to come out... but to be honest I doubt the city will become the way it used to be. Small stores are all closed down due to large shopping malls and even though they have been renovating the main street things will not be the way it used to be. But there are still lots of good things about this place as long as your looking for it.

  • still stuck in the dorms HAU?!?

  • I was an Air Force brat and lived in Misawa from 1966-1968. Was there during the big quake of '68. Lived in 'B' Battery (off base) for 1 year before moving to base housing. Looking at this video, things look so different. We were actually the first set of members at the base yacht club [on the base beach]. Is that still there? Caddied for the officers' wives at the golf course. Brings back memories.

  • I miss Misawa. I was there from April '06-'08. I miss everything about it.

I miss the snow. I miss the HASes. I miss the 13th for some reason.

Now I'm stuck in garbage-ass Luke AFB in the middle of the fuckin' Mojave Desert in fuckin' Phoenix. Ugh. I'd give anything to go back.

  • Sorry to hear Luke Afb is a shitty place! But I am glad to hear you miss Japan. Who knows, if you stay in the military you might have a chance to come back here. GOOD LUCK.

  • My first duty station was Gila Bend(80'-81')then Misawa(81'-83'). Imagine going from 133 deg with no wind to below zero. I thought I was going to die.

I almost got order's to Indian Springs in Nevada which would've been as bad as Gila Bend, but got it changed to Nellis.

After 6+ years, off to Kunsan(89'-90') then COT to Misawa(90'-92'). The Misawa summer still sucks as does the club "Kiki's" outside the main gate. Love Japan, hate the snow and the smell of the crematorium every Wednesday.

  • Do they still call them the Shake n Bake Towers?

  • Wow, I was there from 1995 to 1997. An HVAC trooper in 35 CES. What a run down the memory lane. I sometimes have dreams that Im there still, looks like my dreams remember it as it was quite well. Thanks for posting this.

  • Hey I lived in 212 3g!! from 2004-2006

  • hey i lived in 212 5g!! in 2004 to 2006

  • I really miss that place. I was there 1999-2001, and boy this is like driving down memory lane for me.

  • OMG, Memory lane!!! I was in Misawa when I was a child back in 1984-1988. I was there when they first constructed the towers, so this must be on the east side (If I remember). LOL, I still remember my grandfather helping to build then center benches at the BX mall used to run the car wash that was across the old BX. So, my deepest regards to the person who filmed this. My time at Misawa and Yokota are the most dearest childhood memories I have. Thank You!

  • I was there 1985-87. They had just built a Burger King, and new dorm for the hospital workers...yahoo! Used to love going to the flea markets in the aircraft hangers...lol. That was 20 years ago, and right now I'm looking at a bunch of stuff that I still have from there: stereo, various electronics from store outside main gate + Hon Hachinoe, and the infamous Samurai Swords! Even this desk I'm typing on...lol Thanks for posting. Miss the gang at FSO. Jamie, Lyonio, Susan, Natalie, Donna --Bill

  • Me, too! I was there from '99-'01...35 SFS.

  • Looks different from when I was there in 1978! Our barracks were all two or three floors high and a short walk to the hangars.

  • Thanks for the trip down memory lane! We were there in 99' and 00'. T doesn't look like much has changed. We miss Miyaki's!!

  • american base... hey for the one who post this. do you eat in yakiniku the eat all you can outside of the base.. it's near BUNKa.. i live in misawa.. =)

  • Yeah, I go to that yakiniku restaurant all the time. I love it!!

  • There are two yakiniku restaurants that I liked when I was in Misawa - Ramtai (outside main gate, across from the Pachinko Parlor) and The Viking (outside the east gate).

  • The Viking? Is that the place where you cook your own food? I completely forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me of it. :)

  • Yeah, good memories. I also liked that ramen house in far end of the Shimoda Mall lot on the Yen Store/Donut Shop side.

  • LOVED those places. I left in summer '06 and they'd pretty much torn down everything on the base side of that street putting in what they called "American Market" I saw a video from September '08 and White Poll road has changed a lot.

  • Oi.. the snow. I was at the 35 Trans Sq as a 2T351, working on the plows, blowers and all of the other special equipment used to keep this base in order. I miss Misawa terribly, but working on my back under a 20 ton truck with snow and ice between my gortex and the ramp.. was not pleasant. :-)

  • I was in Roads-n-Grounds and had to spot the plow around the the "Cage" so it wouldn't pick-up ice chunks.

  • I lived in the towers in the early 90's, thank you for this it brings back great memories. I would like to see whatever else you can put up

  • i sure do miss misawa. don't miss the command i was at, but n. japan is great, especially in the winter time!!! hakkodda!!!

  • I used to live in tower 116. =)

  • Tower 212. I used to live in tower 212.

  • I was stationed there too and miss it now. Thanks a lot for posting!

  • its changed pretty much

  • Sorry for the crappy quality but if there is any particular place you would like to see let me know and I will try to film it.

  • I'm pcsing there in about two months. Would it be possible to see a video of what the 4 bedroom houses look like. I saw them briefly in your video.

  • If I get a chance I will record it.

  • I remember all this stuff. Thanks for posting this. :')
