There are many things I would remember in my old age,the invasion of the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban missile crisis, the Israel/Egyptian war of 1967 in which my dad served, the Vietnam war,The War Measures Act being proclaimed in Canada in 1970 suspending all civil liberties, the first Iraq war,911,the second Iraq war,Afghanistan...unfortunately they all have WAR as their legacy. But today I can count Dylan's tribute to those lost and those who serve as one of those good memories not forgotten.
Gosh, I discovered this video only now! But watching it today, it has just the same massive impact on me as it would have had on the 9/11 weekend. I think you could not have made a better tribute there!
I listened to the studio version oif this great song so often now, and I love every second of it. But let me tell you: This live perfomance - I love it even more! You sang so wonderfully; everything was there: The power and the emotions, brought across in the most awesome way. Brilliiant, Dylan!
@Truedantalion Awwww Michael Thank you so much!!! I always look forward to your comments. My Grandma was there that night, well everyone in my family was there, but the last time she heard me sing this was at Grandpa's funeral, so I was trying not to cry.
@anmoose Thank you so very much, I was trying not to cry during this song...so that might be why. My Grandma was there and the last time I sang this song was at my Grandpa's funeral. So it was hard.
That would explain the impact of it, then, Dylan. This time you were feeling it in a way vastly deeper than the performance, and yes, I have no doubt it was very painful getting through it. You might think of it as another test of your strength as a performer, and one you pulled off well. I would have never known.
Watching this made me realize how much you've improved your singing since you first wrote this song(: I love it !:D I wanna meet you one day, and if I ever do, I'm gonna give you a BIIIG hug. So if you're ever here in Florida, be prepared for that. Lol(:
You know this hace always been one of my favorite songs from you Dylan. It will always be my favorite. I wish I could've seen you perform it live. So thanks for posting the video. Stay awesome Dylan
