The singer's name is Linda Chase. Here is part of a message I received from her regarding this version:
...my band 3 Speed did a quickie version of "Back on the Street" for MCA for a European movie... it had to fit the style of the scene in the movie so it's a little less hard rock, more synth/rock, but I love the way I sang it - we had a deadline and I was just getting over bronchitis and it was painful so I did it in one take with what was left of my voice!
wow, who'd have thunk VV had a voice like this?? i heard that Paul Stanley wanted to do this in KISS but decided he couldn't sing it as well so they ditched it
@MaddBadgerr who the hell is soto? man where the hell have you been he is one of the best known vocalists in metal, does yngwie malmsteen, axel rudi, human clay ring any bells?
@LipstickFlash ive heard of yngie malmsteen, but ive only heard his cover of the zelda theme song. i do like rock and metal, just because i havent heard of such people doesnt mean im not a metal listener
Vinnie submitted a lot of demos that started in the Creatures time frame when KISS was regrouping and it was clear that Ace wouldn't be joining them. This came in around that time and actually almost went on the KILLERS album but they went with I'm A Legend Tonight instead. it was an option for Lick it up, but they decided at that time to can it for the future. Of course we know later it was covered a lot and Vinnie himself released it.
Vinnie Vincent wrote the song. It was on John Norum's album because Goran Edman sent demos/covers of the whole of the first album to Vinnie Vincent because he wanted to be in the band.
Am I the only one who has the verison when Richie Scarlet sang it? Vinnie's voice is deeper. It sounds like it could be Jeff. Fan of Kiss, VVI and Talisman and I'm still puzzled by this.
ok i'm a old time jss & vinny fan & i'm on my 2nd play right now as i'm writing this, i can tell you vinnie is singing lead vocals, maybe jeff is doing backup ;) i recon we will find out soon enough.... the journey continues...... x0x
Good question, this is on John Norum's "Total Control" album. Who actually wrote this? It was likely Marcel Jacob... Marcel was a great writer. RIP Marcel!
wow!!! Had not heard this song in 20 years, and had forgotten how much I loved it when it came out..THAT is the best thing about YouTube...The bability to instantly find a great song from the past.....Oh,by the way..I have listened to this song ,now,17 times in a row
whoever is singing here, the comments dont make it clear, this singer is better than the guy on teh album for this song anyways dont know about other songs
OMG, that's Vinnie on vocals for sure, guys... Never would be JSS! I'm an audio producer and song teacher for years. JSS is quite different over all his works, and quite better... :)
BTW, I do prefer the version of John Norum, where Göran seems to be the right man Vinnie might use for this song, IMO.
its sounds something between a very young jeff and joe lynn turner. intresting voice, I like it. did you guy checked out Norum's version with G.Edman?
I'm incorrect. Vinne DID sing this on the album and he trades off with Fleischman. I thought it was all rob until i heard a clear demo with Vinnies voice on it.
@darthinfurnus i still love you was no heavier than this song and it was included on creatures... i think it would've fit perfectly. i would love to hear the version with paul singing. this version is definitely vinnie though.
This version is better because Vinnie's guitar is not scribbling all over the melody. Don't get me wrong VV is a devastating guitarist, but sometimes you have to put the song first.
Actually, this is an excellent version of BOTS (honesty compels me to say that I like it, as well as earlier demos of this song, more than the final version on his first album). Vincent was at his best when writing very melodic songs that often appear to transcend different genres of music.
Vincent owns you

This isn't Vinnie, or Jeff.

Um....Vinnie sang this song with Robert Fleischman. You've probably heard Vinnie sing and not even known it.
Look up the Warrior demos on you tube. That's Vinnie Vincent's voice. Or if you are into 70s music, there is Treasure.
He is a good singer. But this isn't Vinnie.

Could actually even be Vinnie himself doing demo vocals, he's quite a capable singer when focused.
