  • King Curtis himself @ 1.29. Re The Beatles. Who did they get to support them @ Shea Stadium? King Curtis and the Kingpins of course! There is a very short clip on youtube.

  • Heard this version by the Coasters for the first time on the radio in my car today and loved it. I came to love this song before by listening to the 5 6 7 8's (the japanese girls band). Never heard the beatles version before.

  • The Beatles would be the first to tell you the Costers version is by far the only real listening.

  • Beatles version is OK......but people should remember that the Beatles were copying bands that inspired them. the Coasters were one of the bands that they admired. They learned from the Coasters definitive version. Were the Beatles a great band? Of course but their version of Three Cool Cats catches them at a stage before they found their sound when they were still learning. The Coasters version is definitive cuz it catches them at the peak of their creative powers.

  • The original the best recording ever, Beatles version sucks.

  • ur sure?

  • is that all?

  • u earn the marketing with sucess, what did the BEATLES ever do to you?...LOL

  • chords?

  • RIP Jerry Lieber

  • I just switched over to a Beatles recording of 3 Cool Cats. I was totally inferior to the Coasters version. I am from that era (65 years of age) and I liked both groups. The Coasters have a character in their versions that is just awesome.

I just listened to the Ry Cooder version. I was good. Not as good as the Coasters but better than the Beatles. I had much of the flavor of the original.

  • This is good stuff, but I prefer Ry Cooders version!

  • The video is terrific, and the King Curtis tribute in the middle is an excellent choice. Thanks Mutleybird.

  • I haven't heard this in over 40 years.

  • The Beatles were smart enough to appreciate rhythm and blues music as the music they loved. The Beatles always will be great song writers because of that. The Beatles are not great singers however and as usual the better singers bring the song to life. The Coasters bring the song to life.

  • nice work on the vid

  • Ohman, I love this.

  • I have alot of years of listening to R&B, rock, jazz, acid rock, heavy metal etc etc. The Beatles version not not touch this one. The Beatles version does indeed sound like a garage band. This on is smooth and sexy.

  • In my opinion, I think the Beatles version is sooo much better! This is good but I'm a big Beatles fan!!

  • Awesome video, man. Thanks. I love the Beatles, but the Coasters OWN this one. Oh, and can I please have that Les Paul goldtop with the trapeze tailpiece?

  • Thank youuuuuuuu 1.000.000 times for this song!

  • I've always liked this song by the Coasters and the sax solo at 1:28 by the legendary King Curtis is absolutely fantastic.

Thank you for the upload mutleybird.

  • Just heard the Beatles version and no way it even comes close to comparing with the original Coasters version. Don't get me wrong. The Beatles were a great group with some great songs of their own and some great cover songs. In fact lots of great soul artists covered Beatles material. Aretha Franklin's version of 'Let it Be' is really great. Lou Rawls cover of 'Yesterday' also was a great song. Yes, the Beatles were a great group & I have just about all their music

  • Great song! It´s composed by Leiber and Stoller and it really beats the Beatles one. The Coasters were a mature group when they recorded this and put all the wit in their performance. The Beatles were just beginning to learn from their masters ;-) Best

  • The Beatles are my favourite band, but this version (original) is just brilliant. Need to check out this band more :)

  • Take this song and play it like you wanna play it, if you're a player.

  • great vid!!!!

  • Parabéns pela edição, abraços!

  • I definitely prefer George Harrison's voice singing this song, but i did like the slower tempo.

  • great sound,luv 50s music THANK'S MUTLEYBIRD

  • i just like George's voice better and his accent idk i like the beatles version a lot better, but youre right, they did have excellent publicists to make sure they were marketed very well

  • cool

  • I very recently came across this on a Philadelphia radio station (the Street Corner Sunday program?). Quite interesting. I too had heard the Beatles' version. In THIS version here, we hear a saxophone in the instrumental middle.

  • @carlmoore19 The sax player is King Curtis. Top guy in that era from the 50's until his death in 1973 when he was mugged on a hot August day carrying an air conditioner up the stairs to his apartment.

  • The Beatles's version of this song is much better.

  • @aholeinmypocket - Not even close. The beatles just blunder through it just strumming guitars like an inexperienced garage band. Many unknown groups of kids played it that way after the Coasters (before and after the beatles), but the beatles have all that marketing to make sure the public believe they are gods, and whatever else the marketing tells people to believe the beatles are.

  • @mutleybird They were pretty inexperienced at that time. They weren't even famous when they did that cover you know. No offence to The Coasters (I have never heard the before) but I think Beatles's versions is much better. Everyone can have their own oppinion and that's mine.

  • @aholeinmypocket Of course everyone can have their own opinion! And yes, the beatles have been marketed to be much more famous.

  • @mutleybird Your opinion

  • @mutleybird The thing is, anything the Beatles do is immediately exaggerated. It's the mecca even if its bad by their standards, They could release any old song, someone could go do a cover and you'll always get folk sying the beatles version is better. Because it's the beatles..

  • @Christoffski - I see your point ...I'm a Beatles nut but this version is much better though the Beatles version is funny and anyhow the Beatles version is with Pete Best, not Ringo and was a demo session..shortly after Ringo joined they improved dramatically!

  • @Christoffski - I see your point ...I'm a Beatles nut but this version is much better though the Beatles version is funny and anyhow the Beatles version is with Pete Best, not Ringo and was a demo session..shortly after Ringo joined they improved dramatically! ..and I see the Coasters lead singer Carl Gardner passed away today..R.I.P.

  • @mutleybird harsh...I like it

  • @aholeinmypocket beatles couldn't shine the Coaster's shoes

  • @aholeinmypocket NO, it isn't! The original is ALWAYS, better!!

  • @aholeinmypocket fuck the beatles

  • where are those 2 vid clips from at the end?

  • @kanook The three guys walking B&W clip is from "Shadows", a 1959 film by John Cassavates. The last clip is a scene from an episode of "Fame" where they do a version of three cool cats.

  • Classic!

  • nice version too :-) Surely a matter of taste which version one thinks is better

  • What a track. Great video work also.

  • Thanks!
