@YoungerPrice f-body lt1's have aluminum heads. Im not sure what the airflow is on cast iron heads, but i doubt they are higher than the aluminum ones. So the whole engine isnt exactly the same.

Yea I have a pullied lightning with intake and catback only and run 12.80's all at 108+mph spinning all of first gear with aprx. 3/4 throttle(0-45mph) on shitty street tires with a best of 2.2 60ft...With drag radials i have no doubt that the truck will do 12.20's-12.40's (1.5-1.6 60fts)...But im not dissing on any vechiles, in fact i am thinking about buying a head/cam ls1 f-body for some mid-low 11's :) I do seem to have a freak truck though, compared to most others with simialr mods lol

Thats a stock TA. Funny thing is the Trans am actually caught up to the rear bumper of the Lightning, then he backed off. I have no problem staying ahead of a Lightning 99-04 with my 16 year old 1993 stock Pontiac LT1 Firehawk. In fact it gets pretty ugly for the Lightning after 50 mph and my Firehawk is only rated at 300 hp vs 390hp for SVT. Lightnings are nice trucks and fast for a truck, but no match for a 4th gen Trans am or Formula.
fortification7- get you facts straight before typing your response. Lightning weighs 4700 lbs . 4th gen firebird 3500 lbs. Thats 1200 lbs difference. Cubic inches difference is 20 not 30. Who is the dumb dumb?
Lightnings are actually rated at 380 at the motor. about 345-350 at the wheels. and i have no problem staying ahead of 4th gen trans ams and formulas in my single cab F-150
my stock lightning beat slightly modded lt1 and ls1 from the dig and from highway roll would be at least even with them till about 125ish. then the big thing called aerodynamics kicks in. but heads and cams are big power so i dnt think thats true or the TA should get his money back
Stock LT1 for sure. The TA would have eventually caught the Lightning in a topend race even in with the stock motor and its only rated at 275 hp at the flywheel.
Come on now guys, that TA probably did have the LS1 in it. Also, it's a LIGHTNING. not many cars out there can even touch them, no matter the make, motor, or forced induction means.
Its deffinately a 96 or older, I would put my guess on 95 there weren't many 96's without t-tops and from 97 on they didn't make any hardtop TA's those look like salad shooter rims and cloth interior, I would guess 95 or 94... still a little dissapointing for a heads/cam TA should do better then that...

well those trucks have the capibility to move, but picking on a VERY VERY MILD heads cam set up LT1, doesnt really show much. and a good heads cam LT1 would have left you. so find a ls1 with any sort of aftermarket heads cam set up and watch the tail lights dissappear infront of you, oh um good race i guess

Thats a stock TA. Funny thing is the Trans am actually caught up to the rear bumper of the Lightning, then he backed off. I have no problem staying ahead of a Lightning 99-04 with my 16 year old 1993 stock Pontiac LT1 Firehawk. In fact it gets pretty ugly for the Lightning after 50 mph and my Firehawk is only rated at 300 hp vs 390hp for SVT. Lightnings are nice trucks and fast for a truck, but no match for a 4th gen Trans am or Formula.

fortification7- get you facts straight before typing your response. Lightning weighs 4700 lbs . 4th gen firebird 3500 lbs. Thats 1200 lbs difference. Cubic inches difference is 20 not 30. Who is the dumb dumb?

Lightnings are actually rated at 380 at the motor. about 345-350 at the wheels. and i have no problem staying ahead of 4th gen trans ams and formulas in my single cab F-150

my stock lightning beat slightly modded lt1 and ls1 from the dig and from highway roll would be at least even with them till about 125ish. then the big thing called aerodynamics kicks in. but heads and cams are big power so i dnt think thats true or the TA should get his money back

Stock LT1 for sure. The TA would have eventually caught the Lightning in a topend race even in with the stock motor and its only rated at 275 hp at the flywheel.

Its deffinately a 96 or older, I would put my guess on 95 there weren't many 96's without t-tops and from 97 on they didn't make any hardtop TA's those look like salad shooter rims and cloth interior, I would guess 95 or 94... still a little dissapointing for a heads/cam TA should do better then that...

nice race, its just funny at how people make such a big deal cuz a truck beat a car. thats the old body trans am w/ LT1 which only made 285 hp stock. the lighting made 380 hp stock, that evens the weight difference right which translates into. the lighting isn't stock

There are much faster cars out there that will pass this truck. Let that be the discussion for those races.
Why does it always have to be a pissing match between Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and ricers. People never look at the specific case at hand.
