I swear. The next person that relates this back to "you can never do this in a real fight" will personally be punched in the face. Clearly he isn't in the ring against an opponent. Just because he's better than you doesn't mean you should rip on his abilities (XMA)! So shut up. Find a video about sparring or fighting, stop searching for xma if you wanna see fighting abilities :) and although he's 5' 2"ish I bet he could STILL beat your ass anyday.
He's pretty good at what he does. I especially like the bailout when he went into the splits. He was in trouble and went into the split or while practicing he couldn't land the last bit and used that to save face. Too bad the majority of freestyle forms these days is gymnastics instead of mechanics.
I would love to get my ass kicked by this dude, maybe I would learn something in the point five seconds I would be standing. This Emefer is a cool badass.

when the hell would you use all those flips in a real fight dont get me wrong it was a awesome form but in a rl fight you would not do all the filps and jumps
you probably wouldn't use these moves in a fight, but this isn't a fight dude, this is a contest, and he did what he does best to try and win this particular contest, and he has won alot of these contests.
i would it is very effective the spinning and actually confuses ur opponent in a real fight he is gonna say wat the f**k is he doing but u r going to knock his head to the wall or something
persoaly i don't think it looks eay at all! I think it looks very hard and that you have to be very talented and practice alot to be able to do that. (Espasialy the flip parts... the last time i tried to do a flip I fell flat on my face.)
learning to do the flips is one thing. Doing them in continuation one after another and having enough stamina in your legs to do them is tottally different.
His tricks are great! His Martial arts not so good! I thoroughly enjoyed watching his form for the tricks though, but I agree with Noyce, I prefer Jean Frenettes style and Dodger in his day was AWESOME!
I think the trick stuff is great and really impressive. But its losing the martial arts aspect in my opinion. I much prefer the older "Jean Frenette" and "Dodger Devilliers" style forms. They had some good acrobatics but managed to maintain good traditional technique at the same time.
Exactly, its not just for fighting, its a beautifull display of body mastery.. an art. like poetry, or music, or gymnastics or something.
This, display by Matt Emig probably wouldn't be usefull in a fight, apart from intimidating or taunting them, but if he wanted to he definately could, but it wouldn't be much to look at as it would be much much simpler and BORING to look at.
thanks guys you all know what i mean!! Martial arts is a way of life not about fighting!! And i take both sport martial arts , and combative martial arts such as brazilian jiu jitsu and muay thai so i know you wouldjt use this in a real application!
What makes someone formidible in life is not just forms learned and belts earned, it is the ability to think quickly while in danger, to avoid the fights you can and fight the ones you must, often without fists or any type of physical blows.
Getting sued is a battle. Going through a divorce is a war. Trying to get kids to not make the same mistakes we made is an ongoing and losing police action. Martial arts, all. So is bliss and harmony, in spite of the strife we manage with our arts.
Do you guys fight? All you guys do is forms and how in the hell are these forms going to help you in a real life situation? It won't so quit talking shit.
I wish I had enough confidence to put that much strength into my moves!

somebody who is doing kicks like 360° or even more is able to perfrom an 180° kick while sleeping.
