@y0utub3rt Hey you are right about hall effect sensors responding to magnetic fields. We had a magnet embedded beneath the plate under the hall effect sensor. As a steel nut of different size passes it, it generates a different voltage. Hope that helps.

Those nuts are obviously no magnets, so how did you get the sensor to tell the difference? how did you hook it up?
