Flair has always been over rated!! I liked him as a kid, But now as a 44yr old man Flair matches are all the same. I watched a match and just knew I watched this match a thousand times before. The only difference was ....there was a different wrestler wrestling him.
@el84oro HBK was seriosuly contemplating pulling out, citing his legitimate back injury suffered at royal rumble. Austin was frustrated because he really needed to beat a top line act like Michaels for credibility and thought HBK was up to his old 'find my smile' tricks. In my opinion the match was average 5/10, not HBKs finest(his standard obv. being very high)

I like how Flair COMPLETELY missed Foley's point about the "curtain call" being a important moment. Foley was saying that HHH was actually being groomed for a big push and was suppoosed to win King of The Ring 96 yet because he screwed it up and was in the dog house, the push went to Austin who ended up cutting one of the most famous promo's of all time at KOTR 96.
Watch about 5:26 Flair talks over Foley for the 100th time this roundtable, and Foley looks like he mouths "Stop it." Or something for sure, check it out, what does he say?

@el84oro HBK was seriosuly contemplating pulling out, citing his legitimate back injury suffered at royal rumble. Austin was frustrated because he really needed to beat a top line act like Michaels for credibility and thought HBK was up to his old 'find my smile' tricks. In my opinion the match was average 5/10, not HBKs finest(his standard obv. being very high)

@1980redkremlin Yeah, for attacking the refs. They were tag champs at the time and did this badass walk back up the ramp side-by-side cos neither wanted the other behind him.
Point of interest, the very next night was the backstage fight between Bret and Shawn in Hartford that led Shawn leaving til just before SummerSlam and the debut of Dude Love to win the vacated tag belts with Stone Cold.

@CBear47 Flair had NOTHING to do with WCW letting Austin go. It was Bischoff who made the decision to let him go. Flair was one of many that told Eric B that he was making a big mistake getting rid of him and that Austin had tons of talent and could be a star if given the chance.

I like how Flair COMPLETELY missed Foley's point about the "curtain call" being a important moment. Foley was saying that HHH was actually being groomed for a big push and was suppoosed to win King of The Ring 96 yet because he screwed it up and was in the dog house, the push went to Austin who ended up cutting one of the most famous promo's of all time at KOTR 96.
