You really wasted a lot of money on things i'm 90% sure that you don't need.

I got a Dell XPS 17 With the top i7-2860 2.50 2.0 Turbo 3.50 GHz, 1080p screen, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 3GB graphics with Optimus for $1520.00 on the dot right off the dell website. Again, hate to say it but you wasted atleast $300 dollars if not more. I'm not trying to brag but I got a better laptop than you for $800 less.

He is running one of the best Mobile Gaming Graphics cards and the 3rd-ish best processor . That's why his computer is a TAD slower, but with his processor he will open pages up instantly. If you want a good computer go with the XPS with the best processor you can find and the top graphics cards and your set for a long time.

I have my XPS 17 on order. For your specification it seems the boot time is quite slow and you had to launch IE twice to make it run smoothly? You might benefit from a solid state drive to install your OS on.

I will give you 1 tip for making sure your new computer lasts as long as possible, do not run it on soft surfaces like you have in this video. When placed on soft surfaces you block the air intakes and will cause the computer to run hot. Same goes for the power supply, though there are no air ports anything soft will insulate the power suppply and make it run hot.

when your XPS started loading windows and the fan kicked in I instinctively lifted my own XPS17 off my leg to give the underside vent some airflow.. then i realised it was your fan not mine XD

Some things you have to watch with this one is the battery life and airflow while gaming. the 9-cell gives it great battery life *and* keeps it cool. I've found that even though there's a $300 difference between the i7-2720 and the -2820, there's actually little to no FPS difference.

@havenhood average everyday use gets me 30*C - 50*C on cool/warm days and the laptop is practically silent. Gaming is noisy and hot at around 80*C, you'd better wear earphones while playing games too because not only is the fan noisy, but your palm also covers the left speaker when you use the WASD keys.

It runs almost any game out without breaking a sweat, but you have to compromise. Also, listening to music while web browsing etc is extremely annoying as your arms smother the speakers D:

Is there an easy way to turn the touchpad off? because sometimes when I'm typing an essay or something I skim over the touch pad with my palm accidentally and it clicks off the page or opens another program or something. Also if I'm playing an FPS game if I skim over the touchpad with my palm in screws up my aim. but sometimes, when I've left my mouse at home and I'm in the library I need to use it so I need it to turn on and off easily.

@Peice0Cornbread i'd save $300 and go with the i7-2720qm instead of the 2820qm...for gaming there's basically no difference at all in frame rate between the cheaper 720 and the expensive 820. with that $300 you'd be able to buy the advanced 6230 wifi card, X-FI audio and TV.

also, get the 1600x900 resolution screen. 1920x1080 will only make the GPU work harder, and make games perform slower. Just those 2 CPU and screen options will save you a LOT of money and give you much better frame rates ;)

If it's not too much to ask, I've been trying to get a feeling of the viewing angles of the 17.3 FHD WLED AG screen you have on your machine. Would you mind filming the screen at extreme viewing angles, top, bottom, and side, to see what becomes of the color and contrast ?

If you look at the screen from any angle other than dead on, otherwise all you're going to see is reversed colours. on the bright side though, if you're watching a movie and you need brightness quickly, just tilt the screen forward a bit :P
