@DjUnListedd Actual EWF version is better , but the Beatles version is good...I remember EWF version of this song when I was a kid...I had no idea that the Beatles cut was the original. It seems like something instrumental was missing in the Beatles version and EWF just filled in the gaps....
i've seen alot of interviews where george or john needle paul, trying to bring him down to earth. usually in a very humorous way, but sometimes withering. i think they had to because nobody else would. or could.
Many people don't know that Paul wrote this song for the Supremes, but, Berry Gordy rejected it, as he had everything-writing, musicians, etc.-in house...
@antdigger Funny, to me this song IS Earth, Wind & Fire, but... I happened to be copying an EW&F greatest hits for my high-school-aged son tonight and he said their version is a cover of the Beatles! My kid knowing more of some the music of my generation than I do! The internet is a great thing, everyone has the freedom to find what moves them. Music's amazing - take the same some, completely different sensibilities/interpretations and it's motivating all around. (damned YT word count!).
love the beatles love earth wind and fire, this is a good version even though the beatles are an all around better band the earth wind and fire version is much better
This song is a missed opportunity. The awesome guitar near the end doesn't even come in until the end! You can hardly hear the rhythm or bass guitar or anything, it's practically devoid of guitar until the last 30 secs!
Why, Beatles, did you have to do this?! This song could have been so much better.
John: I think that was one of his best songs too, because the lyrics were good – and I didn’t write them…. It actually describes his experience taking acid. I think that’s what he’s talking about.
Paul: It was a song about pot, actually.
(the song that John & Paul were talking about in the above two quotes is “Got To Get You Into My Life.”)
when i heard this song i was living beautiful things now i hear this song again i may cry but i wont do because i still love her and I'm sure she wont see me crying
@marijuana420stoner It's true, he tells the whole story in an interview about getting turned on by Bob Dylan while they were playing in NYC. Up till then the Beatles had only partaken in speed and downers and alcohol. Bob came to an after show party and Paul offered Bob a "purple heart" (speed/barbituate pill) and Bob said "I have something much better....". After the experience he wrote a "love song" to the weed. It seems like a tall tale that stoners would tell. But it's really all true.
The Beatles themselves were like other men, but the music and lyrics channeled through them contained magic and hidden messages. To learn how to perceive these hidden meanings, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read through the section about The Beatles.
EXELLANT EXELLANT ....OH and the 6 persons who didn t like it are you fans of

This is it. There has never been and never will be another band like the Beatles. The perfect musical for any audience. They reflected the generation that wanted to be heard. Almost 40 years later, they are still as young as ever. Timeless, beautiful, true.
The Beatles are coming back, but not as the cute mop tops we saw the first time. This time, we will see them for the prophets they really were and hear the spiritual and truth side of their music. It will change the world again. Go to TruthContest (dot) com and open The Present, then read the section about The Beatles. Pass this on to every Beatles fan you know.
@FFX383 I read this in the Rolling Stone edition of "100 Greatest Beatles Songs" and it was probably the most surprising thing I read in there. I had no idea but now I cannot unhear it!
This song is gorgeous!!! Paul is a great genius!!! And his voice is so sweet and so "dirty" as well... Thumbs up if you think Paul is one of the best singer in the world!!!
i hate earth wind and fire's version of this song, in my opinion they butchered a classic, i hear their remake at work all the time and it makes my blood boil
Here like all of the sixties rock n roll. we see the spearhead of the Psychedelia movement by the Revolver album recorded by the Beatles mid-1966, It was the beginning of the nadir as well the final tour that would plague them for the rest of the decade minus their acclaim in future goals, the exception is that the album did not sell a lot of course it heralded the 67' summer of love and reprecussions leading to their followup Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Clubwhich is all experimental/folk shit
Tune was released as a single in the US in 1976, a decade after its initial release and six years after The Beatles split up. Despite the time warp, it reached #7 in the billboard Hot 100. Top that, Gaga, Bebo, whatever.
It is by Paul McCartney of Wings but he wrote it when he was with the Beatles. It was released on the Beatle's Revolver in 1966. This song is credited to the songwriting partnership of Lennon/McCartney though it is mainly written by Paul. Wings didn't start until around 1972.
...they're still the best band ever. But i mean look at the times, Woodstock, janis joplin, etc. it was full of weed, LSD, heroine etc. Bu anyways.. yeah. I don't why I went into this rant, but there it is.
"Actually, the song "Got to Get You Into My Life," which was written by Paul McCartney and recorded in 1966, was generally believed to be a love song that McCartney wrote for a girl. But in the book Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now (by Barry Miles), McCartney disclosed that the song was actually about marijuana, an intoxicating substance when smoked." the majority of songs by the Beatles were actually about drugs, or at least references to it. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, though.
