Great hardy guns that can deal with Russian weather and work! Not much to go wrong in a single shot. Nice rifle and perfect calber for the lady shooter.

If you can shoot a .243 - you can shoot a 25-06. Excellent long range cartridge with more power and range. I wouldn't trust a .243 beyond 150-200yds for deer.

I remember reading several years ago about a fellow in Africa who fired a 22 long rifle at an elephant in effort to scare it away from his garden. Unfortunately, he hit the poor beast and dropped it in its tracks with a single, misplaced round, and then really had a hell of a time getting it out.
Both guns I like are considered "Girl Calibers." .243 and 7mm-08 are the two finest calibers there are. If you need bigger game than deer, just grab a 7mm short mag. I don't really like the 30 calibers.
@miketastic97 both cartridges are necked-down .308 (7.62mmx51mm) cartridges with a smaller bullet diameter and weight. Since the 7mm-08 has a larger, heavier bullet, it has more kick than a .243. Only slightly, however.
girls gun? I'd say an extremely useful cartridge if loaded properly capable of taking everything from foxes to red highland stags (you'd probably want something a bit bigger for the lowland stags especially in the south)

@werewolf88999 Before I say anything, my first rifle was a .243. But I do sort of see why they consider it a "girls/kids gun." In our family we've used the .243 for young hunters and teaching female friends to shoot well, and not develop a flinch, making it the perfect starter gun.
well i shoot 30-06. in my Win 70 and 7.62x39 in my Saiga, but ill always love the 243. it's one of the best rounds ever IMO, it all goes by ballistics and the 243. or 6mm Remington, are the top for that, and then i guess all the US military and Nato are shooting girls guns causes that's a 223. Remington, i learned on 22. LR i think that should be the girls gun or little kids gun imo
I hope you didn't take it like I was bashing on the .243 at all. My .243 is probably my favorite/2nd favorite rifle that I own. When I said it was my first rifle, I meant first centerfire. It had ample power, with low recoil which was nice when I was 8 and still now at 20. I've since moved up to a .300WSM for a little more power. Do you use yours for groundhogs?

If you can shoot a .243 - you can shoot a 25-06. Excellent long range cartridge with more power and range. I wouldn't trust a .243 beyond 150-200yds for deer.

i have a left handed savage .243 i downed an antelope a 263 yards with it it died instantly a .22 is a kids gun its great for kids to start with and stop hating on girls about .243's are a girl gun because theydont kick that bad and ive seen a girl at the shooting range shoot a barrett .50 bmg and said it doesn't hurt i bet half of you that say .243 is a girl gun are too scared to even shoot the barrett

I remember reading several years ago about a fellow in Africa who fired a 22 long rifle at an elephant in effort to scare it away from his garden. Unfortunately, he hit the poor beast and dropped it in its tracks with a single, misplaced round, and then really had a hell of a time getting it out.

Both guns I like are considered "Girl Calibers." .243 and 7mm-08 are the two finest calibers there are. If you need bigger game than deer, just grab a 7mm short mag. I don't really like the 30 calibers.

@miketastic97 both cartridges are necked-down .308 (7.62mmx51mm) cartridges with a smaller bullet diameter and weight. Since the 7mm-08 has a larger, heavier bullet, it has more kick than a .243. Only slightly, however.

girls gun? I'd say an extremely useful cartridge if loaded properly capable of taking everything from foxes to red highland stags (you'd probably want something a bit bigger for the lowland stags especially in the south)

@werewolf88999 Before I say anything, my first rifle was a .243. But I do sort of see why they consider it a "girls/kids gun." In our family we've used the .243 for young hunters and teaching female friends to shoot well, and not develop a flinch, making it the perfect starter gun.

well i shoot 30-06. in my Win 70 and 7.62x39 in my Saiga, but ill always love the 243. it's one of the best rounds ever IMO, it all goes by ballistics and the 243. or 6mm Remington, are the top for that, and then i guess all the US military and Nato are shooting girls guns causes that's a 223. Remington, i learned on 22. LR i think that should be the girls gun or little kids gun imo

I hope you didn't take it like I was bashing on the .243 at all. My .243 is probably my favorite/2nd favorite rifle that I own. When I said it was my first rifle, I meant first centerfire. It had ample power, with low recoil which was nice when I was 8 and still now at 20. I've since moved up to a .300WSM for a little more power. Do you use yours for groundhogs?

no i know your not bashing the 243. at all just drives me crazy when people act like it's wimpy, but yes i use it for target, varmint, and sometimes whitetail, but anything bigger i use 30-06., in the future i would like the get a Mini 14 in 223. or a Remington 700 in 308., but i also never got into the area of magnum rounds how is the .300WSM ? the .300Weatherby or .338 Lapua all look awesome
