Excuse me, but i suppose that the title doesn't mean "the sons od the Don" but "By the blue Don". They sing "nad sinim" not "nad synom". But that's not important. The song is amazing!

My direct ancestors left the Don region (Novocherkassk and Nevynnomyssk) during Alexander III's reigning. They also went to the East and settled in the south of Altai mountains (since Kruschev it is Kazakhstan)

My grandather died from Soviet granade on river Don. He was Serbian ,who was enforced to to fight against Russia by Hungarian fascist army of Miclos Horthy .If he didnt do that ,they would probably kill his family in northern part of Serbia , Vojvodina,which was under Hungarian and Croatian tyranny in WW2. He died with his Serbian friend in the same moment they wanted to desert or flee from fascist, and join with Russians and other Orthodox brothers.

Well, I can tell you my friend that more than 200.000 "fascist" Hungarians died at the region of the Don, because Hungary was forced by the Third Reich to get into the war. Many of them was practically used as living shield by the Germans in order to cover their own retreat. What happened/happens in Vojvodina is an other thing, both sides committed shameful things. But this song is beautiful. Best wishes!

They are a united cultural group within the larger Great Russian people, but, some Cossacks fought for the Nazis because of the Stalinist repressions, which hit the Cossacks harder than many other groups.

@SlovenskiPartizan It was not about repressions. During Russian Civil War all nation was divided. Part of Cossacks fought for Red Army, others for White. Lately, when Red Army started to win and push all enemies to the borders of the country, many of them ran away abroad and of course hated Soviet Union and dreamt about restoration of their privilegies. Those groups Nazis used to create anti soviet units. They were not just of cossacks. Vlasov's army included many prisoned soviet people too.

They are ALL Russian. None are "Ukrainian", an ahistorical term (not used at the time!). It amuses me how Uniates clutch cossacks to their breast, as the Sich HATED Uniatism and the Polish Jesuits.

Is this UPA nationalist going to tell you how Yushchenko gave a posthumous medal to SS Sturmbannführer Shushkevich, merely because he was a "Ukrainian"? I think not! Watch out for these sorts!

I have not much prcise information about the cossack's regions. I know that it was a kind of multiethnical community. What is the story actually? Are any differences between the Zaporozhie and Don hosts?

"Multi-ethnic" community is a modern term and anachronistic. Most Cossacks were Russian, and all who wished to join them had to be Orthodox Christians (all Cossacks hated, and still hate, Uniatism). The only difference between the hosts was due to their location (they were sited from the Don in the west to the Dalny Vostok in the east ).

People always want to throw the Cossacks into one big group. As far as i know the only non Russian Voisko there was, was the Zaparozhian Cossacks who are infact the "real" Ukrainians all the other Voiskos are Russian sort of. If u ask a cossack if they are Russian they will tell you that they are from whatever particular Voisko they belong to.

Quite. My people are form the Orenburg and Trans-Baikal hosts. Please, do NOT use "Ukrainian" for the Zaporozhean host. The term is anachronistic, as it only came into use in the late 19th century. The Zaporozheans identified themselves as "Orthodox", not "Ukrainian". The only appropriate terminology is that used at the time.
