when i first installed vista i was waiting for the wow to start for a couple of hours. then i made a vlite version. still no wow but atleast it works...
Another reason why I'm waiting for my Mac. I am going to switch from Vista to Mac OS X in a very very near future. I experience these kinds of problems almost every day with my PC with I will throw soon, and switch to Mac and never use Microsoft products anymore.
The Wow Starts Now.......MORE LIKE THE BOO STARTS NOW!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! VISTA SUCKS! INTILL THAT SERVICE PACK COMES OUT VISTA IS A POS! XP, 95 and 98SE kick vista's ass, KICK IT HARD!

When I first got Vista, I had a bluescreen exactly like that! driver_irql_not_less_or_equal! Yep, I remember that! Apparently, it was a problem with my Linksys Network Adapter!

Well, i took a typing class and they said the difference would be that hardware can be physically touched, such as a monitor or keyboard. Software would be like programs and such.
Holy crap that's slow, my laptop takes around 25 seconds to boot Ultimate. Hey, even my old 386 boots up quicker! I guess you'll have to find out which bit of your PC that Vista is getting bogged down by. Disc/RAID ? My desktop BSODs on install, laptop was a breeze though.

Ugh... wow. Thanks again about your original comment on Waiting to buy a copy a Vista. I'm still happy with XP although I clean all the BU*^&hit out once a week. MS really does need to get their shit together. It's friggin 2007 and they still cannot get the drivers to work with the OS on a user build PC. WTF INDEED!
i never got the blue screen on my vista, i was doing everything. in vista i found a typo. and i had soundcard driver problems.. it would work but it would glitch every once and a while.
example - audio would make a loud screech randomly when i was listening to music "x-fi xtreme music"
but i never had any problems with video. "x850 xt pe"
i would have closed explorer.exe and reload it, that usually fixes the explorer related lock ups.
MS needs to stop with the "fluff" and SERIOUSLY work on compatibility and ease of use for the "average" user. NOT computer geeks. All the fancy effects they add does nothing for the OS.
As a computer geek, Red Hat me. Windows has been a terrible OS since ME and 2000. NT was the last decent OS they made. Vista. Microsoft, I don't run an OS to entertain me. I run it to run other things to entertain me.
Once again. Thank you Microsoft for your VERY stable and VERY reliable operating system. Too bad society is basically hooked at this stage in the game. Otherwise, any other OS would have a chance with the average user.
wow. your techieness astounds me. cute puppies! (hint: want a talking puppy, use peanut butter. poor thing, lol.) i is jealous of your puter.... poor me. :P
I've had the BSOD about 4 times in the past month myself. I use the Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP and every time I get the blue screen, it's when the camera is going. That's not to say that it happens every time that the camera is going, but that's what causes mine.
lmao... its funny to still see those things.. i finally switched totally to linux 2 years ago.. im happy now.. no more headache.. so good luck! you gonna need it :P
I can't even recall when the last time one of my Macs running OS X crashed, but I know it was years ago and it was related to a bug that was fixed in a patch.

i use vista and never had a problem apart from some dodgy bundled software and a faulty display driver that recovered instantly after it crashed.
