@grampfan Google 'Eisenhower tax rate'. When Eisenhower was president the top tax rate was 91%, but you had to have LOTS of money before you hit that rate. 52% was tops for most wealthy. This tax rate is what helped create a middle class. It payed for World War II & the GI Bill, built our highway system, education system & other infrastructure in place today (albeit crumbling now from maintenance deferral resulting from tax cuts.) We did all that without borrowing, and the rich still got richer.
See you still don't get it. When the taxes are imposed, who will pay the tax? The American people that use the banks in question. The banks just pass the tax to the people that use their services. The banks are going to make the profits (bonus money) regardless of how much they are taxed.

But childrens afflictions are being diagnosed at the neontal stage, and children are born at very premature rates in this country than any other. @grampfan Google 'Eisenhower tax rate'. When Eisenhower was president the top tax rate was 91%, but you had to have LOTS of money before you hit that rate. 52% was tops for most wealthy. This tax rate is what helped create a middle class. It payed for World War II & the GI Bill, built our highway system, education system & other infrastructure in place today (albeit crumbling now from maintenance deferral resulting from tax cuts.) We did all that without borrowing, and the rich still got richer.

America has been rated 37th in the world in health care by the WHO; you spend more on health care than any other 1st world country and don't have universal health care. Your child mortality rate is at third world levels. If you want to think you're no. 1 go ahead.. I understand what you wrote but the WHO is a political wing of internationalists who's data is as scewed as the IPCC. You cite child mortality rates, which on face value is correct. But childrens afflictions are being diagnosed at the neontal stage, and children are born at very premature rates in this country than any other. So that data while very relevant is skewed, I could go on and on. I can't dismiss any of what you've said as you can't dismiss that the WHO is political.

basic healthcare is a human right. This is according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed by the UN General Assembly in 1948. Article 25 Section 1 "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services.." The United States signed this declaration.

Basically it was the US saying with the world, this is the definition of basic human rights. Healthcare falls into that category.
