The core of this game is plowing through other cars.

No matter how fast your car is, you will start in last.

No matter how good a driver you are, you will start in last.

You just won first place in the first race in the series? You will start in last.

More than half of the career mode is just trying to plow your way through your opponents before the race ends. This is horrendous in the later sprints around parts of Nordschleife. Good luck plowing through 14 other bad drivers in 2 minutes.

-.- gran turismo has a tire squeel every little turn you make. I thought NFS: Shift's was peaceful compared to that. Either way, I love both games. I love GT's car amount and realism, and I like NFS: Shifts sense of speed, cockpit view, and attempt at realism

Tell me, do the cars handling feel more slippery in this game compared to shift 2? It feels like that to me and I wonder why they did that. Also, why did they make it so that you spin out of control when you hit another car in shift 2, but in shift 1 they promote you to, without penalty?

@enemY1990 I think the reason a lot of people didn't like ProStreet was because EA tried to make street racing a legitimate sport, rather than the illicit and shady world of Underground and Most Wanted. I personally agree with them I like open world street racing like NFS Underground and Midnight Club, closed circuit racing should stay away from the tuner scene.

@MrXMGS but a friend of mine told me that he played shift 1 or 2 ... i don't remember wich one ... and he said that when it comes to tuning your car you have to be careful of the balance between some stuffs ... while in undercover or most wanted u just upgrade your car ... plus a need for speed without cops it's not a need for speed ...

Don't know if the others can't tell the difference between a real sim and other games, or if they just don't have the balls to say that GT is not the "Real Driving Simulator"... The GT is the "Real Driving Simulator" as much as the Pope is the "Real Rocky Balboa".

As for the Shift review, it was great! I've played shift for some months and your review was spot on. You summed the game up nicely.

Really looking forward to GT5 and NFS HP review! :)

You will spend hours with Gran Turismo 5!!! Need For Speed and Forza are both semi-simulation games, but Gran Turismo 5 is a full simulation game!!

Don't know what kind of simulators you've been playing to say something like that, but you're definately playing the wrong ones... Have a go on a real simulator, and you'll imediatelly notice "some" differences.

As a racing game, Gran Turismo is very very good but as a simulator... it can't even be called a simulator. Ask any real hardcore sim fan and you'll se ;)

There are lots of sims for you to choose :)

GTR, GTL, Race07, Rfactor, Netkar Pro, IRacing, Live for Speed.

I chose Rfactor for me because you have tons of mods and tracks that you can download from rfactorcentral. There are 900+ tracks and many car mods like WTCC, F1 (several seasons), Touring Car Legends, Historic GT cars, go karts, Off Roaders, Historic Rally cars, etc.

Plenty to choose from ;)
