  • TRY TO TEACH THAT TO A CAT

  • Comment removed

  • bring some hot dog or chicken then pick your dog up, gently place him in water, and Use praise when he is in the water (good boy, good girl, great job) the deeper it is the more treats and praise the dog gets.

  • who names a female dog bugzy ??????

  • wat about wen ur dog is afraid and doesnt want to go anywher near the water??

  • Today I trained my pooch to swim this way. My dog who has been terrified of water for 6+ years is now a swimmer! (: Thank you!

  • I bet its the same for big dogs :) I have a pool and i can finally teach my doggies to swim :D

  • My dog shits herself when she's near water lol, I'll have to drag her in and give her treats, etc.

  • can you teach a dog to follow you? I need my dog to do that :P

  • @XIyaX1 i didnt have to teach mine to do thats its just what she dose

  • My neighborhood pool is having a day where you can bring your dog to go swimming. She's a Volpino Italiano, or a German Spitz. Both like the Pomeranian breed. Can dogs with thick fur still swim? Im also scared that shes going to poop in the pool, any tips?

  • i dragged my poor dog in the water and taught him to paddle. now he loves it

  • i have a black lab, so i think she will already like water, i don't know. This is a awesome video.

  • my dog doesnt stay out of the water i dident teach him he just loves to swim i keep a vest on him when were in areas with a current

  • My dog is a German Shorthaired Pointer and they are known for hunting game and water fowl. but i adopted her and she wont swim now because she fell into our pool on the first day,,, how do i get her to swim again because she likes the little kiddie pools that are only 1 ft deep..

  • but what if the dog stays put and won't budge, and when you pull on the leash it chokes him, and the dog thinks your trying to kill it.

  • trainer is banging fit

  • this is good - dog stays relaxed. The only have to swim a little at first. Need it to be gradual. Even works for bulldogs - and some really can swim. The trick is to keep them relaxed and safe and positive. Life jackets teach them that they can swim like they are wearing a life jacket and can be dangerous. Of course bulldogs need a life jacket around any place they could fall in because they do sink if they fall. They should only swim from shore.

  • My dog likes putting her face under the water XD

  • I am surprised that most dog trainers or people with dogs don't put life jackets on dogs if they are unsure about swiming or are scared!! Some dogs like the bulldog family have a hard time swiming because they're more bulit with more weight on them so I would put a life jacket on them!! I am going to put a life jacket on my dog, Sassy when we get our pool she is a Sheltie!!

  • @SassyTheSheltie You only need a life jacket if they're on their own in the early stages.

  • cam a maltese with long "hair" swim?

    thank you!

  • @1234isnard All dogs can swim but if it has arthritis, be very careful that you don't aggravate the condition.

  • my dog dont like to swim because he's not like bathing...

  • Nancy your fucking awesome. You make training your dog so fun. You seem like a really great trainer. Thank you ;)

  • easiers way is to throw ur dog into the water make sure he doesnt get out till he fully learns if u want tie him to the boat then throw him in take him out in about half a hour

  • @13harjot hahahaha

  • I was walking my dog near a pool yesterday and he jumped right into the pool and started swimming towards the people in the pool. I had a hard time getting him out

  • @KottnMouth29 dude for a tip get him a treat in the water like make him follow the treat for a swimming distance and then give him the treat try that several times and there u go

  • my mom told me that dogs are born knowing how to swim.. like when you put them in a pool they'll know how to swim.

  • @KottnMouth29 hahaha same with my sheltie hes doesnt like water i take him outside to shower him and he gets anxious and nervous and everything

  • Im getting a lab and spaniel mix puppy soon, he's 6 weeks old i think, does anyone know how old he should be before i try introducing him to water and swimming?

  • @NocturnalXLight Dont care

  • @NocturnalXLight maybe you should try sit its one of the easiest tricks and the first trick most dog knows. i taught my cousin's dog down, and they taught it to sit and shake. Hes about 4 months old.

  • @NocturnalXLight when we had a spaniel-lab mix we got him in March(at six weeks from a shelter) and in June when we were all in the pool he just jumped right in and the rest was history

  • well if you have big dogs and attack dogs theyll allready know how to swim right?

  • @ij921234 All dogs can swim.. but some don't like to. I have a german shepherd/siberian husky mix that is a big aggressive protective dog and he won't swim at all. He likes walking in water but gets scared if he has to swim

  • @TheDubDoubt not all dogs can swim instinctively, my BC fell in the pool when he was 13 weeks and almost drowned. I also know that Staffys have a tendency to sink due to muscle mass and the positioning of the back legs. they have to be taught to swim.

  • i thought it was nutural for a dog to swim

  • Dog's cannot be taught to swim.... It's an instinct

  • @MisseyPawsey Dogs instinctively fear the unfamiliar. You have to get them to overcome their fears to teach them to swim.

  • I live in Austin, Texas i bet you were on town lake. I have a 2 month old siberian husky should i wait to introduce him to water until he is older?

  • I really want to teach my dog to swim. There's no pool to practice in, so I have to resort to the questionable beach in summer. She'll frolic up to her shoulders near the shore, but she won't follow me or her dog friends out farther to actually swim. She panics if her feet don't reach the ground. Any advice to coax her to paddle out? She could use the exercise since she's a bit overweight (an hour walk plus a run doesn't seem to be enough). I love to swim, and I'd love her to join me one day.

  • i have a german shepard/rotweiler mix hes never seen a pool in his life ,from what i hear tehy know how to swim automatically ,were takeing him to swim soon i hope he can do it

  • I have a Boxador its a a non common mixed breed between a boxer and a lab.

Hes a wonderfull dog but im just tring to teach him to swim hes about 8 months of age i dont think he likes the water that much but when i turn on the hose pipe he looks like a wet rat afterwards but i try tweach him to swim in th pool he will only put his front legs in and he refuses to ge any deeper. If you could give me some tips on what to do.

  • question..:

    i have a labrador retriever..

    shes female

shes sort of old and never learned how to swim..

    how can i teach her?

cause the only way she swims its when i have her in my arms..

when shes on the pool she "swims" away to the nearnest corner..

    what should i do?

  • show her dog candy or dog food or something she likes , then she will probably go towards you

  • @InamurasZ Throw a ball in or give her a cookie.

  • wow that dog learns fast! YAY! THE DOG LEARNED HOW TO SWIM! CONGRATZ! I can't really swim kinda. Well I'm still learning by myself and my friend.

    ~IwantReeses~

  • My maltese puppy

     is born to swim
