"The pinnacle of evolution and existance" Bioware intended them to be organics from the start at least thats how it seems to me. Machines do not evolve in the same way as evolution in organics do, if machines can evolve by natural means. That statement implies that the Reapers see themselves as the ultimate ending point of an evolutionary process, that all organics inevitably become them if they survive long enough, so they are just going to help us in the process.

You guys know what sucks, Mass Effect 3 was FULLY playable by Dec 2010, but they are basically spending a year and 3 months to the new release date (3/6/12) to polish the game. We have to wait longer but they are actually being smart about what they are doing and making sure they get it right.

The characters and the gameplay are now showing what I like to call the "117 Complex". Nothing bad, but it relates to John-117 and the actual feelings we have for him, not because of the game, but because if the humanization of the characters (as previously stated).

@MrDarthBaker Not to get into an argument, but there wasn't really anything complex about Master Chief's character. Maybe the books made him more complex, but in the games there was really nothing unique about him to set him apart from all the other Mr. Badass Saving-the-World characters.

The Metal Gear Solid games, particularly MGS3: Snake Eater (out the same year as the first Halo, I believe), has a much better example of humanized characters, in my opinion.

The officials trailers that have been released are good so far, but this fan trailer is the only one that's actually making me feel something. I hear Sovereign talk about imposing order on organic evolution, and I see all these wonderful different species, and I just want to stand up for them. I don't want to lose them.

This makes me excited for ME3 more than any of the official trailers because, damn it, it makes me want to fight.

@Santello22 this is just a theory but one of the definitions for the word Sovereign is "one that exercises supreme, permanent authority, especially in a nation or other governmental unit," and since he and the Reapers are basically playing God, the name Sovereign kind of works in with that, when he says "I am Sovereign" he might have been using it to say that he is the ultimate authority in the galaxy, not using it as his name, but that's just a theory
