I just subbed yours. I'm working on some video right now. We're planning out the shoots right now. Some of it done in the suburbs and around home. Some of it in Detroit. I'll keep you posted. Nice vid!
Great story. Reminds me of the time I went to a noise show in Los Angeles and I had to walk out at one point because the sound and graphics got so disturbing, not to mention one performer was walking thru the crowd slicing his arms and letting the blood drip onto paper flyers he'd thrown on the floor.
And with what you said about "I can do it to". That really rings true with me. Throbbing Gristle (and related bands) really showed me (a kid who grew up with rock and metal music) that there are no rules in music, only the ones you impose upon yourself. Finally last year I started to try my hand at music of my own. I always allowed my lack of musical training to hold myself back before.
I had the opportunity to see the reformed TG in April of this year. While much different from your experience (obviously) it was still the most intense performance by a band that I've ever experienced. They played two sets that night, the first a live rendition of their score to Jarman's 'In the Shadow of the Sun' (with accompanying film), and the second a set of various songs from their career.
I relate to this. Sorry I never experienced them live, but a school friend and I both rushed out and bought their records after hearing Hamburger Lady on John Peel's show in 1978. How everyone we knew hated them! But I always thought that TG's time would come ...
I saw TG in Los Angeles, May, 1981. Your description of the pre-show sound like my experience. But this time, as I recall, they showed the Jarman film, "Psychic Rally In Heaven". Afterward, they did not show the castration. Rather, they opted for 20-or-so minutes of old vintage black-and-white hardcore pornography. But the wall of sound leading to their appearance on stage was identical to your description.
"I can do it too"... that is a wonderful key-message, it reminds me on my own thoughts, listening to garage "Krautrock" and Punk Bands in the 80s in Germany....Wonderful inspiring times.

A very fair point. I have added Closed Captioning. (Subtitles.)
Click on the "up arrow" icon at the right of the video control bar and then click on the "CC" icon to turn them on.
