Apple really does have a knack for being far ahead of its time. It would be another 10 to 26 years before everything from audio/video and software distributions will be completely disc-less...... that is, anything produced by 3rd parties will be offered primarily online.

And if you think about it, it makes the most sense from an economic standpoint. See how much money they would save if they don't have to burn their stuff to disc.

Imagine: BUYING an OS X -UPGRADE- from the iTunes store...

Yea, but the only problem with that is the Bandwidth caps that companies are beginning to put on our web usage. Could you imagine sitting down and watching an itunes movie and then a message pops up and says you have exceeded your maximum bandwidth of 10gb?

The internet 10 or 26 years from now would be drastically different.

Assuming either a constant or even a constantly increasing demand for increasingly faster internet connections, one would have to also assume that the broadband ISPs will have to meet that demand by doing one or more of the following:

1) increasing the speed of the connection (up and downstreams)

2) raising the bandwidth caps to account for the increased speed.

3) build more infrastructure for future connection technologies
