  • Hoover 4000, Allow me to compliment this great Guy from the United Kingdom. I'm a 39 yr old male whom has been listening to the King (Elvis) for years. It was great to listen to the man JD on following the links here...

  • God bless you. I've only just come across your account & been listening to your vids for the last coupla hours. Tears of Joy :)

Its been years since I've listened to JD

  • WOW!!! I love JD voice... In the sky i will sing with you JD !!! ... Thanks God for this man, for the voice!

  • Who is/was that on guitar(s)? That was superb accompaniment! I love watching and listening to these gospel music clips, but feel that the backing musicians never get enough camera time, or credits.

  • I Loved JD and What a Voice That Man Had ! Thanks for Posting My Friend ! RIP Mr.Sumner !

    TCB DANNY

  • what year was this like 1991 or 1993

  • JD and George younce my favorite bass singers

    I love them

  • I am missing JD Sumner... The world is much sader without him

  • Thats why KING OF MUSIC ELVIS HAD HIM WITH HIM ALL THE TIME , BECAUSE HE AND HIS GROUP WERE THE BEST IN THE WORLD.

  • i noticed that j d sumner did a little boogie from 1:30 to 1:34

  • JD had a voice that you can only appreciate and admire. His passing was sad. From South Africa , Zani

  • I couldn't agree with you more my sister. His voice was out of this world and it will be centuries before we can have someone that can come close to him....Zakhele form South Africa

  • Hot dang Big Bad JD could blow out some earthshaking notes. Aint no school like the ol skool. I agree with darklost shadow...between JD and George Younce bass begins with these boys...roll on Tim Duncan, Aaron McCune and them but these ol skool legends are timeless. From New Zealand with love. Roll on

  • I cant believe I forgot to mention George Younce thanks for mentioning him

  • God bless the Stamps and especially J D Sumner my hero !! What a good man with a wonderful base voice ! We miss you JD RIP

  • I just LOVE this song =D

  • Ronaldo!

  • look at 2:10 that man:P its fun=)))

  • JD is the real meaning of a bass singer he can sure crank out the low notes and still keep quality

  • I have never been religous and cant recall the last time i went to church. But after hearing this i may start to go more often

  • Jesus is calling you, friend. He is wanting to sup with you. Let him in friend and break the bread in your heart with him.

  • what AWSOME music..

  • Thank God this song. This is true and real.May God hears us in Jesus name amen.

  • That´s why Elvis loves JD and the Stamps

  • How come when bass singers sing really low, they put their hand on their ear, just like jd sumner did at 2:10 to 2:14?

  • If you put ur hand over your ear like jd did you are able to hear your own voice better, which helps you hear if you are singing the correct pitch.

  • when you put your hand over your ear like jd did you are able to hear your own voice better. They use this technique make sure that they are singing the right pitch when they go really low.

  • TubaLug is correct. The need for basses to do it is because the lower you sing the harder it is to hear, especially when you have other voices and instruments to hear over.

  • at that volume it can be hard to hear your pitch, so he puts a hand on his ear to hear the pitch.

  • it helps them hear the pitch their hitting to make sure there not flat or sharp

  • I feel the same way. Loved JD Sumner but my favorite was George Younce. I loved the story he told about what JD said about his boots. He asked him how long the doctor said he had to wear them.:o)

  • I love bass singers and JD is one of my VERY favorite, George Younce was my favorite.

  • Hoover I would like to hear Rainbow of love by this group could you find it and put it on here. I just love how low in the bass vocals he goes, and Rainbow of love is an example of that

  • Hoover I get so excited just hearing them , thanks so much and JD was the greatest in my opion..makes me kinda teary eyed to see JD look so bad not bad but you know sick .

    cheryl

  • Ms. Cheryl,JD was absolutely on of the best. There's a choir in heaven with so many great bass singers. JD, George Younce to name just too. I prefer Mr. Younce, his announciation was better than J's. Just imagining God's choir gives me goose bumps.

  • these two old men are the greatest...sorry ed if you see this

    cheryl

  • I Love JD, he is a good example of a Christian, the best Bass singer ever, even tough he is ded, he stil lives in our memory and hearts, can't wait to see him in Heaven

  • why did J D Sumner put his hand over his right ear?

  • You will see a lot of bass singers do that. Its really so they can make sure they are on pitch. When they hit those realy low notes, it takes a lot of air and isn't that loud, so they are directing the sound up to their ear. You can also push your ear closed and listen for the vibration.

  • You're totally right. The problem is that that technique did not help Mr. Sumner all that often.

  • J.D. was the lowest bass singer ever . Look in the Guiness Book.

  • He covered his ear so that he could hear what he was doing and block out the rest of the noise when he sang a low note. Its hard to sing loud when you're singing that low. A lot of bass singers and even baritone singers have to do that. They weren't using in ear monitors back then. I know I do that sometimes in the recording studio so I can hear what I'm doing when I'm laying down a track

  • It`s a kind of monitoring. Try it for yourself: Press your hollow hand over your ear and sing. Especially in deep and high notes you can hear yourself much better. You can see it sometimes at highvoiced traditional sindger in spain as well.

  • why did JD Sumner always put his hand up on his right ear?

  • Thanks for fantastic clip! I can almost hear Elvis in the group. He would have loved this!

  • Good song. No better bass singer than JD. Anyone know what video this is on. Thanks.

  • J.D. was a good and generous man. We all will miss him. Thanks again, Hoover
