I didn't know that about manning. That's just terrible! Unfortunately I foresee many many more months to years of torture ahead of him. Why do we let the government treat people like criminals (and behave like criminals themselves) when they are only trying to be good people! ARGH! It makes me so sick!
I think the difference is only in the jurisdiction. If Assange had been arrested in the US I'm sure that he too would be in solitary confinement right now, or worse, and not just for the alleged sexual offences. It would be nice to think that the source of the leaks had as much support as Assange, but he's never mentioned on the news now. If the US wants Assange extradited for espionage they should remember that Gary McKinnon (hacked into US military networks) is still in the UK 8 years later.
@Gisburne2000 He's in a military prison too, which makes it different on several levels, but even so, the way he's being treated is WAY beyond the "norm". Assange may well not being mentioning it on purpose, seeing as the Manning hasn't actually been convicted yet. It's a whole lot of craziness, that's for sure.
