Duke3D: Not to mention the lacking soundtracks. The music was OK, but the constant looping was just sad. I mean, Stalker in EP2. Yeah. And the simply laughable secret level. I saw that shit too. Wow...

I agree that Nintendo doesn't have kiddie systems but family systems. I think out of every console I have ever played I have had the most fun on the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube.
lol, I think what people mean by "kiddie" systems are systems that you can't have a party and drink alcohol while playing Madden on it. They'd probably be too drunk to play the Wii version anyway. Me thinks they fall down a lot.
Usually the bad comments I get are people saying that I have a terrible taste in music because I selected one song to use in one video that I made years ago, going as far as saying that I am some sort of emo loser. Anyways, great video as always Rob and it is actually nice to see someone that actually likes the ambience music in the console ports of Doom, I like it, of course I am not the person that would put it on my iPod but I like how it makes it more dark and sinister than the PC version.
After seeing your videos between PSX doom and Saturn doom, I have to wonder, why the hell does the Saturn doom have so many bugs? Is it because of the Saturn's "LOLWTF" hardware? The things full of fucking CPU's...
Some of the best Saturn games I've seen were Burning Rangers, Duke3D (Of course), and a Panzer Dragoon Saga. But Doom on the Saturn has too many quirks in it from what I saw in your videos...
You're pretty awesome to own all those consoles, some of them are pretty rare by now.
As you have noticed it's pretty common for people to start typing before thinking and it's unfortunate. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts as I have these same thoughts too at times.
As for Duke on the Saturn, for me, it was the first version of the game I ever owned having never had a PC growing up. The being said, I recently picked up Duke 64, and plan on getting the PS1 port too.
The only thing that drives me nuts about the 64 version is the lack of music.
As for the misconceptions about certain ports, some of them stem from old uninformed Magazine reviews that touted a certain port as the best and it just stuck in people's minds over the years. They never questioned it
Yeah, on Duke 64, the lack of music bothered me. Also, the constant look spring and lack of parallaxed skies as well. But four player Dukematch and alternate ammo types make up for it. :)
I think you're right about old gaming magazines. I noticed that a lot of the opinions (especially PSX/Saturn) stem from specifically Gamefan's very enthusiastic features. I know, I still have the issues. Gamefan, however, was a great magazine in a lot of ways. :)
@elbryan42 I noticed you mentioned GameFan there and I really liked the magazine at the time. FYI, three of the guys that worked on GameFan, namely Nick Rox, Casey Loe (Takuhi), and Shidoshi, have a new podcast named "Warning: A Huge Podcast" which is pretty good! A Google search for the title will bring it up. Just thought you'd like to know!
The ones I always get are the "You Suck" on my online play vids when I'm not trying to show my "skills" (in which case I'd just make a stupid montage and pretend that I never die), and am just showing off the gameplay for those interested.
The same on some of my other vids like people talking trash over Nascar Rumble on the PS1.
Then there's the people who say stupid stuff like Hey that's "War of the Lions" on the PSP when they see FF Tactics on my 100 PS1 games vid, or "that's Mega Man 64!"
lol, nascar rumble. I got it along with need for speed 3 and sled storm. And you know what Sled Storm is? LAMER. Man I loved sled storm, because every time you crash, you hear a guy say lamer.
I never really touched nascar rumble, because I spent more time on sled storm more than anything else.
Not every system has good games, CD-i for example, lol.
