I disagree that there are sub-types of trich. I believe there are stages of trich as it progresses. In the beginning stage, most of us pulled without realizing we were pulling. It progresses from there..
There is no magic pill for trich and it's heartbreaking to put hope in a pill or anything else, and have it not work.
The way I got freedom from hair puling is through God.
BTW .... i Have a big bold batch at the back of my head and i am really worrieing because it is my last year of school coming up this year and i really am worried that ppl might laugh at me .. i am not scard of people laughing at me but i am scard it will make me do it eaven more because of stress
Hello Their My Name is leonard ... and i am just coming up to 16 years old now and i have been pulling my hair out for about 3 years now it is kind'a on and off .. it all started when i was 13 and i pull litllry every bit of my hair out of my head now thats really worries me alot beause i kind'a have a really bad habbit of doing this all the time and i am still pilling it out please help me guys i am turning 16 in a couple of weeks and i am still in the habbit of pulling my hair out please help
this works too. you need to take at least 1200 mg and you need to take it twice a day, at 8 hour intervals. you need to give it 9 weeks for the full effect to work. I have a really bad case of trich and I'm about 90% pull free with this. I take 1000 mg twice a day. it's really helpful and all pullers should try it. far better than behaviour treatment.

I think you should allow ppl to go ahead with their compulsive addictions. why try to "cure" it? its normal to have these urges. everyone has a type of self-harm going on. its impossible to suppress it because if you do, it might turn into something more dangerous.
@florencelovme I have trich and I used to think that way...that stopping it would be going against my 'normal urges'. But it's just acceptable in society that you are a female and don't have hair. Just saying. Also, I look better with hair.
I am very interested in learning if there were any differences in the efficacy of the NAC between the two subgroubs of the trich patients. Also, when did they take the NAC? mornings, when they felt the urge or...?
hmm i have a problem where i not only pull my hair, but after i get a firm grasp of a clump of it with one hand, I use that hand to drive the clump of hair into the skin between my fingers of my other hand until I bleed. What the hell is that called? I have had it since I was a toddler.
This piece of research is a great step forward for people like myself who suffer from trich.
I'd like to send my feelings of gratitude towards everyone involved in the research, experiment, and publication of this work and all work that has led up to it. Thanks. :)

I've tried taking NAC before, but sadly I didn't see any difference in my hairpulling... maybe I need to try again...

A friend sent this to me because she knows my struggle, its so comforting to know I'm not alone and we can overcome in our own way.

@spaz9i2 its acceptable for a girl to not have hair? in which part of the world is that?
florencelovme 1 year ago
@florencelovme Typo. I meant it's just NOT acceptable in society that you are a female and don't have hair. Yeah. So it's tough.
