They just used the video from the concert and re-recorded it in the studio.
If you watch closely to the whole movie David misses being close the mic before he sings with no audio level change. Hence why it is re-recorded with no mistakes.
Thank you for telling me, and I am not being sarcastic. I thank you for one less mistake. I also hope you were being polite and not meant to be a dick, I assume you were not.
David tours solo now. He played Glasgow Royal Concert Hall earlier this year. It was the third best gig I have ever been at. Second best was The Haeds at Wembley 1984, best Led Zep at Knebworth 1979. Stoned for a whole week for that one.
this is from a movie by the talking heads, directed by jonathan demme, and one of the many eccentric characteristics of said movie was that the band members would come onstage one by one, to finally be a whole band at the last song. this just happens to be the opening song in the movie, ergo there's only one band member.
In my wayward youth, I must have gone to the local midnight showing of "Stop Making Sense", at least a dozen times. Smokin weed and groovin on the music and visuals.
I heard you do it at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, same tour. It was such a nice way to open the show--and brought out something different in the song. And then the stage slowly filled with people.
Fa-ff-fa-fa-ff-fa-faaa Haha ^^

I remember when I played this, the guys in charge of the sound board cut the drums out a note too early. It was fun playing this song solo though.
