  • I love how it costs more than a new computer.

  • @TYZARRD lol i got a vidock 4 plus

  • Hrmm.... Here's an Idea. Buy a desktop PC, put graphics card in it, ????, Profit. -.- Kind of a waste in my opinion. You dont buy a laptop for desktop graphics, It's just not thesable (yet).

  • @militaryson94 yeah but then some of us get emotionally attached to our laptops and use it mainly for college/work and would appreciate being able to play games on it too.. Oh i didn't know the integrated video card i got sucked it said '1gb video memory!'..

But yeah.. An external GPU without external monitor at a decent price would be great

  • If you guys are interested in PCIe expansion enclosures, take a look at our channel :]

  • build a cheap gaming PC instead buying this shit... this accessory should come with external CPU watercooler and external motherboard as well lol...

  • if it was possible to simply plug this box in, and the gameplay fed back through to the laptop monitor, a company could make a FORTUNE with this idea

i thought of this long ago, but obviously i just dismissed it as impossible :P

if you could make a 'node' with a gfx card slot, extra usb ports, and perhaps a gaming soundcard built in, that would be an epic idea

  • @DaGleese

Magma builds a larger expansion unit that you can plug-in a USB pcie card, sound PCie card and more...

  • it would be nice if you could feed the video output back into the laptop screen as well though, Thunderbolt...

  • @dannypires1

Thunderbolt expansion system is coming soon, for discussions and forums go to expansionsystem(.)com

  • Why does this cost over 700 bucks and how is it better than ViDock for $200?

  • @yak2be Exactly

  • @yak2be lol im asking myself the same question lol

  • What about higher end gpu's? i dont think they would fit in there

  • @baw414 It would probably be hazzled by the (relatively) low data transfer in the cable and ExpressCard slots :(

  • its useless, tried it and threw it straight on ebay.. its far to annoying to use and is far to messy with all the wires and extra bits and pieces, save your cash and sell your existing laptop and use the cash you would spend on this unit and pci-e card to upgrade, thats what i done and i couldnt be happier with my upgrade.. its just a gimmick to make you think you have an upgrade. you need to upgrade everything.. cpu/graphics/memory.. AVOID IT ... not worth your time

  • @excriminal1 this is not for every one im looking in to the magma express box for my capture card for when im on the road and want to stream my xbox live i look the hd pvr but you can not stream with that so in magma express box will do what i need it a vary nice box but it not for every one

  • how much is it

  • im sure my 8800GTX isnt gonna fit there lol

  • im sure my 8800GTX isnt gonna fit there, it would suck a laptop dry of power too lol

  • where do I buy this???

  • Hi, which slot on the laptop would this plug into?

  • @UK012

You plug in the ExpressCard34 directlty into laptop's express card slot.

  • @jelarzhel hey what if your laptop does not have that pci slot?

  • @le5king

The laptop used in this video uses an expresscard slot. It is not using a PCMCIA slot.

Laptops don't have a PCI slot, it either a PCMCIA slot or ExpressCard slot.

I am not sure why would refer to PCI slot unless you meant PCMCIA slot

  • @jelarzhel I think he meant to ask what you would do without an expresscard slot.

  • Do i need to use another monitor?

  • Do i have to use another monitor?

  • Would it work on Dell Vostro 1015,he has an ExpressCard but he has integrated Intel graphics, does it matter or has no influence on ExpressBox?

  • @GigaGSi

This should work on Dell Vostro 1015.

Intel Graphics is compatible with any external GPUs, be it NVIDIA, ATI or Matrox...

  • can this hook up via a normal monitor cable?

  • @EVILgnarlygnome

They do seel a lot of this model. It's not just for graphics use / purpose only. It can be used with any PCI-e cards.

  • is it possible for me to use it with my old imac g5?

  • @timendil

No, you won't be able to use this with your old IMAC G5.

G5 has PCI slots. The Magma expressbox uses PCI-e host interface card.

  • ITS FUCKING 700 DOLLERS

  • @EVILgnarlygnome

go to this site to see more similar devices expansionsystem(dot)com

  • external monitor=fail

  • i can't play on my laptop screen

  • HOLY SHIT THIS SHIT COST 700 DOLLARS FUCK CRAZY

  • @Eljomo1 there's more information on site expansionsystem(dot)com

  • @jelarzhel would it boost my graphic capabilities???

  • @raditya1107

There's more information posted on expansionsystem(dot)com

  • Could you also just use it on the laptop's display? That would be MUCH better.

  • Cool but not practical. It's like getting your hybrid car to run on diesel oil. it's cool you figured it out how to do it, but is really worth it? Aggressively lower the price point, and maybe. But it still just makes sense to build a desktop and buy a netbook.

  • very neat product but it is way too expansive. they are selling this single box for around $740 on the magma website when vidock4plus is only about a half of that amount.

  • @bladfin

Yup it is expensive. The compmay MAGMA is considering on modifying this unit in order to sell at a lower cost

  • If I'm reading this right, this product is around $700. I'm not sure if this is with or without a graphics card, but I can go and buy a ViDock4 Plus for about half the price of this. I wouldn't spend that much on either product, considering I could build my own gaming desktop for half the price and twice the power. Sorry.

  • will this work on a hp pavilion dv71451nr? I've been really trying to find a way to improve my graphics card.

  • Why are your prices so ridiculously high?

  • Dude for the price of this son of a bitch i could make a whole new system. its 750 bucks. not including the video card you might need to buy.

Now if it was around 100 dollars id go for it. but with 750 you can make a sick gaming rig by your self.

  • do you have to use the express card? or can you use the VGA cable?

  • @Directinator303

You have to use ExpressCard to connect this expressbox to a laptop.

For the video card installed in the ExpressBox, you have to use video a cable to connect to a monitor.

  • have you tried to connect the express box to your laptop? i mean there is a slot in it so it might work, if it did, then more people would actually think about getting it

  • Ok i cant use the graphics on my laptop screen but can i use the power for gaming on my laptop?

my current card is a intergrated ati hd3200, i can play games such as fallout, crysis and assassins creed on low setting.

if i were to use this express unit can i expect better quality gaming and if so by how much (if i were using a card with 1gb vram in the external unit)

  • only $750! i could build my dream computer for that much!

  • it's $4000! fuck that shit, buy a 4000 dollar gaming monster!

  • Can I have a ATI graphic card on this dock while having nvidia graphic card on my laptop?

  • will this stuff work with hdmi?

  • Way too expensive...

700+ USD for half rack... dumb.

  • $700

  • This is AMAZING!

  • Wonderful! I am excited to have seen this video; however I have questions. Would this pci-express unit be able to handle 2010 graphic cards such as the Radeon 5800 series or even the Radeon 5970? From my research other things of this sort only can handle the Radeon 5670 due to power supply.

  • lol no ventilation. Some hardcore gfx cards will overheat.

  • crossfire?!

  • HI PEOPLE I NEED HELP OVER HERE

i want to connect my wacom cintiq lcd tablet via vga or dvi to my vaio l desktop which has no god damn input

would this thing help me..? or what would u do

  • sorry friend for the question but how much costs in dollars?

  • Could you use a desktop, and instead of link it to an external screen, just link to back to the desktop?

  • costs WAYYYY TOOO MUCH like 700 bucks

  • where can buy this product

  • @jayrellz

@jayrellz Yes, you can use this expressbox on either laptop or desktop.

To use this or to connect the expressbox to a desktop computer all you have to do is switch the expresscard to PCI host interface card. This is what an expansion unit is all about.

  • So I'm guessing this can't be used with a desktop pc, huh?

  • Do you have to have both screens? please tel me that you dont i really want one but if i have to have the second monitor well thats a deal breaker

  • @deathgodespada you can use only one screen, that is the main purpose of using an expressbox is to be able to use an external gpu as alternate high end disiplay monitor

  • can i display on the laptop screen or external monitor?

  • @SlurpSilencer, yes you can display on both laptop screen and external video.

The external video card installed in ExpressBox outputs the display to secondary monitor. The internal video card in your laptop outputs the display to your laptop monitor

  • Can it fit a 5670?

  • @Ian0073040 Expressbox1 Pro can fit a card of 12.283 inch / 31.2 cm. Ati HD 5670 is 18.3 cm. Expressbox 1 without the Pro can fit 16.8 cm

  • Hey, I usually don't use laptops to game, but I have done a lot of research and found this. I have a bunch of desktop GPU's laying around and I thought it would be cool to connect them to my laptop. Is it possible to use the screen that is already on the laptop? And can dual sized GPU's fit in this?

  • do you actually need a second monator

  • can i use the expressbox to experience high quality graphics on my laptop screen??!!!! without connecting it to an externel one????111

  • @XboxPs3Pc, nope you cant the use the graphics in your laptop.

  • @jelarzhel Ok i cant use the graphics on my laptop screen but can i use the power for gaming on my laptop?

  • can i use the expressbox to experience the hight quality graphics on my laptop screen!!!???? without connecting it to an externel screen??

  • I can imagine this performing great on computers without PCI-E

  • are the grapchic card inserted on purchase?? can we change the gpu to other brands like nvidia or other type??

  • The expressbox does not have the gpu when you buy it. You can use other brands of GPU

  • ken i youse laptop scren ?

    not anader moniter!

  • Cool, now I can use my notebook for gamming.

I will travel with my note, the ExpressBox1 AND A FUCKING MONITOR!!

  • @URIZHEY Why would you want to travel and play games? Play games at home when don't have better things to do and take a mini laptop to school.

  • whats the point, if your right next to your gaming computer, then why use your laptop?

  • @sambetty123 Magmabox is smaller than a PC. So you can carry both you laptop and the Expressbox. And people don't like to change their dear old laptops.

  • hi! where can I buy this product. I'm from the Philippines

  • hello i would like some specifications.

Express box1pro says 55W internal power..

in the Compatibility Statement they say that it supports for example this graphic card-->nvidia quadro nvs 440, but the

graphic cards Minimum Power Supply Required is 350 W..can you explain this?thanks in Advance

  • the ExpressBox1 only support GPU wit power not exceeding more than 55 Watt.

But you can buy just the expressbox1 board and use your power supply to suffice the need of the GPU power 350 WATT

  • can you explain what you mean by saying that i can use my power supply to suffice the need of the GPU power 350 Watt..?i cant realy understand what you mean..does Express Box1 has a plug in for external power supply?and the X1 means that it supports ONLY x1 graphic cards?because most new graphic cards are x16..sorry for bothering you but i need to know some things from a guy who has tested it..thanks again..

  • what I meant by using your own power supply is by using an external power supply such as 400 Watt or any Power Supply unit that can provide mre than 35OWATT.

The ExpressBox has internal power supply.

ExpressBox1 only runs a X1, if you put a x16 GPU it will only run at X1.

  • that means that ExpressBox1 has a port or something for extra Power supply??or is it gonna be something that is connected to the laptop and through the laptop is going to provide extra Watt to the ExpressBox1?

And that means that the X16 will not fit in a X1?

or it means that the ExpressBox 1 has the amount of lanes to support an X16 card but would only send the power coming through an X1 to the pc?

    because

  • i am from a country where this product is not available... yet. so all in all, to have this one thing to work, besides a good CPU laptop, we need a monitor, the "box" and the graphics card? how much is it in your local market?

  • get Vidock 2 its $292 bucks for the box version its way better and doesnt have a ridicoulus price tag like the $749 for this thing..

  • so that bullshit external graphic card is not gonna without that fcking external screen? i hate this shit.. and for 700 bucks.. ha. id rather buy a new laptop

  • any 1 have blueprint for this???

  • @mikeccuk2006 I wonder if some already in existence card can work as the bridge in the pci express port, and then just buy an adapter pci express - graphics card. It should be easy to do without commercialized products.

  • ACER laptops use MXM cards now day. So one reason to buy acer just to upgrade cards..

  • You're right about the prices... Is this Compatible with an HDMI enable Graphics Card???

  • LOOOOOOOOL that thing is like 700 bucks, you can buy a NEW LAPTOP for that price!

    PFFT!

  • I saw the prices. It is better to buy new laptop...

  • not really. its worth getting this. (in the long run)

  • hw much is dat?

  • $729 for a metal box :D

  • will this be able to run games on your laptop at high settings or medium or medium to high

  • Hmm this is a little confusing because...

Surley it wont be able to run in 16x because its plugged into the expansion port right?

why cant the express box use the laptop screen instead of having to use an external one.

  • is it necessary to add monitor with this pci express card??..nd wht is its cost ....

  • LOL i have the same laptop as you i got it in 2004 it is just 15.4 and have AMD and nVidia

  • rofl this thing is a big rip off 700 bucks rofl!

  • oh really lol, i dont think so...

  • actually i dont think this help at games it makes look better but it will be slow anyways thats what i think , i dont know how this work if some 1 can explain me i will be glad

  • do you really need an external monitor your can you just use your laptop display?

  • wats the price of the box??

  • I thought the point of gaming on a laptop was to game on the go... this doesn't seem very portable. I guess it's good if you don't need to take it anywhere, but it seems more practical to just buy a gaming laptop.

  • you very clever..bravo..someday u can made external crossfire or SLI and can support biggers saiz graphic card..i like you product..you are best enterprenuership..

  • that piece of shti costs more then a diecent graphics card

  • Why is this so much money?!?!?! I don't understand why a a power supply in a fancy box with a converter cord is so freakin expensive!!

And anyway when are we getting the xg station

  • quick question: why is the external box so small? the result of the size really limits you to which video card you could put in there, for example you coulden't put a 9800gx2 in there ( and yes ATI is crap)I suppose if you cut and bend the top half of the box you could fit a better graphics card in there.

  • nvidia is crap xboxguy516. but if you insist then i welcome you to buy my 2000$ priced HP pavillion which was made useless just 2 months after the warranty expired (14 months after purchase) cause nvidia made crappy 8600 gpus and the one in my notebook fried up along with thousand of others.

  • HP is crap not NVidia. I got one and the day it arrived it started acting up, then the entire mobo was fried. I just got a refund and got an eMachines at Wal Mart lol. Now I know much more about these computers and what parts to look for instead of "dell, hp, etc" things are much better. Check out a builder called Alvio Corp. I found them on eBay and they have a site. For good prices you get good PSUs and mobos assembled in a nice case ready to go with all the drivers for a few hundred $.

  • Does the express card slot provide enought bandwidth for a high-end graphic card?

  • Nope. High end video card requires 55 Watt. This version of ExpressBox won't be able to suffice such power requirement

  • thanks, but I was talking about bandwidth (speed of the port, Mb/s), anyway your answer help me with power.

    Power (watts)

Bandwidth (number of data transfered in a second) Usually Mb/s or sometimes GB/s

  • Yes, it does provide a pretty good bandwidth. But it is not recommended to use with High End Video PCexpress Card. Why?

if you put in a X16 Video Card and you are using a laptop it will run at X1. Laptop ExpressCard slot are X1.

  • To clear all doubts, yes, this requires an external monitor. It cannot give the display back to the laptop. You 'require' another monitor to which this thing will give the display to. It cannot give the display back to the laptop. Hope I am clear.

  • and it only costs 725 for it :O then the graphic card then the monitor only about 1.5k just wait for the xg station

  • can you tell me please what is the name of first track thanks

  • say it right - nelly furtado

  • but i dont have two monitors is necesary? and this box is for a graphic card? please excuse me my einglish i am mexican. gracias.

  • too expensive for me,if i convert to us dollar this thing cost me about US$438..by the way, im malaysian..

  • this is shit.

might as well buy a new computer.

this shit should have been at the most 200 dollars.

  • do u have to get external moniter?

  • Yes, you have to buy a video card and install it inside the expressbox. This will allow you to connect your external monitors

  • but i dont have two monitors is necesary? and this box is for a graphic cardm i just want play a game? please excuse me my einglish i am mexican. gracias.THANKS

  • There's a new ExpressBox4 coming out soon. This new Eb4 can accomodate 4 PCI Express Cards. You can connect it with your Laptop and Desktop, be it Apple, PC or Sun.

  • do u have to get dual monitors plzzzzzz respond

  • Yes, you can use it with dual monitors. Depending on the video cards how many monitors it can support.

  • no dose it HAVE to have dual moniters like just the laptop ad the pci expres box and how much is it

  • hey

nice.. i have been looking every were for that:)

how much and were can i get one

    please answer back:)

  • omg i love it man i have looked every were to find how i can get a graffix card for a laptop..... how much and were man:)

  • omg i love the idea man i have been every were every place to find some thing like that cant find it... were do i get it and how much please answer me back man :)

or i will live woth dogy graffix

  • You can use this unit for desktop also.

It's versatile, connect it to laptop or desktop. You have to use a PCIe Host Interface card to connect it to your desktop computer (running Mac OS or Windows OS and Linux).

  • can yopu use this unit for desktop computers or this is only for laptops.

  • For laptops and desktops also

  • there are 3 internal cooling fans in this ExpressBox unit

  • ok i put the graphics card inside and wait untill it fries?.... wat i want to ask is that does this express box has any coolers so my video card dont melt of overheating??? when i play game...

  • no joke, i need one of these tho

  • wtf is the point of this shit ....... jus get a new laptop or desktop !!

  • yea you cn get your own laptop. This ExpressBox is not only for video card usage. This also can be used with other External PCI card.

  • $700, wow. i dont know if i can afford it.

    but great video though..

  • Where can i get one?

  • This is a PCI Express unit that allows you to install a PCIe card such as graphics card. The unit basically connects to a laptop that uses a ExpressCard slot. And connect your flat screen monitor or projector. Not only video card you can install but you can install sound card, frame grabber, diagnostics card, Ethernet card or any types of PCIe card.

The ExpressBox1 uses an Ec34 module that gets inserted into laptop's ExpressCard slot.
