i think both eras are both just as kickass as each other, but this is their darker more raw era. They both have different but amazing feels

Yeah, the earlier albums were definitely darker (riffs and solos were also betteer but that's my opinion) and wages of sin and rise of the tyrant were pretty good.

The solos in this era are unpredictable, and are the kind that are so good that I get chills :D

You should man such a great band and its not a million miles away from arch enemy, Thats not to say arch enemy aren't an awesome band have you checked out Tyrants of the rising sun? its an awesome dvd

@Guitarshred31 Yeah, they're probably the best live band in the world, I would say they were, but Nevermore on their DVD and Nightwish before they got Crapnette were just as good live imo.

Well, I have only heard a few songs from Heartwork, and you are right those solos are really good, but I haven't heard enough of them to really judge who's better in that category :D

I guess I'll listen to them more.

i love slayer especially the album reign in blood, south of heaven, seasons in the abyss. i don't really like their new stuff man. And yeah AE and Cob and LoG are my all time favorite there are no songs that i don't like from the mentioned bands that i admire. so cool. AE forever!!!

@LEG0B0Y I agree with that :), but however, Loomis is better than both of them put together :S, he can do stuff neither of them can do, and imo is a better composer.
