2yrs ago I was RIDICULOUSLY prosecuted for ‘causing public offence’ when my 20YO daughter’s horrible douchebag ex-boyfriend was killed in a road accident.

Loads of flowers & tributes had been left by the roadside where the accident happened, & I just thought this was wrong as it didn’t reflect the guy accurately. I saw a Russian car pile up live with blinding snow and ice. Absolutely brutal to watch people climb out of their cars and start looking around ans sight seeing the mess knowing at any second a car would bullet into them.

Number one rule of a pile up, get out of your car and away from the scene as more cars are coming. Secondly send warning up the line by flagging cars to slow and stop. Flares and markers. You can save lives by preventing more from crashing into the scene. A real shame.

- this Autobahn (A31) have very few traffic (accident took several minutes)

- fog (fog suddenly appears on this part)

- cold weather (close to 0°C) which extends the braking distance (at emergency stop)

- nobody knows how tight the fog was at this time

- you might not believe it, but most drivers stay below 150 kph and some just below 120 coz of fuel consumption. So stfu about no speed limit...

@tz138 No, if you were driving and there was a sudden fog moving over that completely cut visibility, you would need to slow down, of course, you have to base your speed on that of others. However, you don't know the speed of the cars around you...since you can't see them, you could slow down too fast or too slowly and easily cause an accident, this is what probably caused most of the accidents.

(the lake is so salty, that it does not freeze like fresh water) This is how the mountains in the area get that famous snow.

Europeans are better at driving in their environment. As Americans are in their's. In Germany, a truck is limited to 90kph? (56mph); while the semi truck speed limit is 80 (128kph) in places such as Utah, and now Texas. Texas may raise that to 85mph. An American pickup is limited to 110kph? In the USA, pickup are classified as autos for speed.

This is what happens when people drive too close to one another for the weather conditions. I see this all the time when I'm driving. People don't realize that even at a measly 110km/h the vehicle you are driving takes a very long time to come to a complete stop. Apparently a good car can stop in 3 seconds going 110km/h. As the road conditions get worse you continually add seconds onto the time it takes to stop the vehicle.

It's just common sense.
