Every time there is an aircraft crash, people get so emotional about it. 90 - 100 people die in car accidents EVERYDAY in this country and twice as many get severely injured, and nobody seem to care. There is no difference between burning or bleeding to death in a car wreck compared to an aircraft crash. However; if I had a choice, I would have picked the airplane crash because 9 out of 10 times the death is instantaneous.

god bless these human beings. the crash happened due to being in auto pilot to long when the flat were lowered it was de-activated. the plane dropped 1800mls to 800mls. the plane stalls and then the pilot panics some by pulling up on the joy stick causing the to loose more balance it required 300mls to pull out of this stall plane was at 800mls house was at 625mls. plane crashes on it belly. the sad part is imagine the passengers surviving the impact of the crash but the furious fire burns um...

Well, The plane didnt make the entire neighborhood disappear. You cant be too carefull with planes since 911: they melt into buildings and make them disappear. I was surprised to see the tail section intact in the morning, but then i realized the tail melted into the WTC, so then it all made sense.

I believe that there was too much ice accumulated on the leading edges of the wings and that as soon as the pilot applied 15 degrees of flaps to slow the plane for landing the plane did not respond like it would in ideal conditions and stalled and dropped like a rock out of the sky. I believe that the crew was not experienced enough to deal with this flight condition which led to this disaster. Bottom line combination of weather and pilot error.

Actually, since the first officer was handling the radios, the captain would be the pilot flying the aircraft.

Plus, there is no law requireng an auto pilot. In fact, when near the airport, its usual for the crew to fly by hand. Usually AP is used for cruise portions of the flight.

Scandinavian airlines grounded them as they where seen as unsafe and that SAS costumers hade lost faith in them.

Of 27 Q400 in the SAS fleet 25 was found with corrosion inside the landing gear. The corrosion was found in a place that is not examined in normal maitinance. In 16 of 18 planes examined, mailfunction of filters for the hydralic system of the landing gear was found. In 2 cases gaskets had come loose and ended up in the hydralic system. Cont... ->

All in all they have been grounded so much that the pilots in SAS called them

Some Q 400 has: Lack of alarm function, badly constructed landing gear, unreliabel cockpit electronics.
