Use shutter mode (Tv - Time value) and set a high shutter speed of 1/125 or 1/250. You may have to increase your ISO value to 400 or 800 ISO. Experiment with the settings.
To all who have 1000d, I got it for Christmas so I haven't got the chance to use it much. I love skateboarding and take photos of it, and I wonder what mode would be the best to use? Hey Vince, whats up with the IS? Do you know the difference betweens Canon-Objectives with and without IS? Do I need to have one or is it kind of a high-end feature?
Image Stabeliser is a useful feature on long telephoto lenses, 200mm and upwards. Canon has an excellent reputation for IS lenses, and they work too. I have a 70 to 300mm zoom lens and I can hand hold it at slower shutter speeds
