Clifford Brown's playing is just wonderful here, as is Sonny's. But it's often forgotten that great solos come from great bands - and this is one. They sound like a unit and have personality. Kudos to Max and the rhythm section, they're right there with the soloists.
I bought this album when I was 15 years old. It was my first Sonny Rollins album as well as my first Brown/Roach Quintet album. It remains one of my favorite albums of all time, and I just realized it somehow didn't make it onto my iPod....which is quite a drag as all my albums are in the USA and I'm in Bangkok.
