pbbbbt, dude, you're a simple minded turd. you completely missed the point of the movie and the underlying, and blatant, problems with the "financial services" industry.
Dude its not that they can't afford it. Its the OVERWHELMING hidden fees that is NOT in the contract. Like if you are few days late they not only charged you a late fee but other fees. They can charged you $7000 for a $1000 tv or refrigerator. The movie is not about ppl complaining its about enlightening ppl about how credit companies used legalized scams to take advantage of ppl and making billions off of it
gaaeee2000. Sorry, but "sociopath" was not meant for you. I was talking about the mentality of leveling peoples lives for a profit. That in itself is a form of sociopathology.
Continued..than I will get off my soap box. Ok. If you are so fired up about people borrowing money and having problems paying it back, than why is'nt someone calling up the White House to collect on the billions of dollars that this country has borrowed from foreign banks to finance the war? This country is in debt up to it's eyeballs. The most powerful nation on earth, is indebt to other nations. If that is'nt a sale out, I don't know what is. The US is being sold to the highest bidder.
As an AMerican you should be outraged that your government allows corporations to become so powerful that they are allowed to break the laws in order to collect debts from American consumers. The people are no longer the ones calling the shots. Yes people should pay their debts but big business should not be running government or steering government policy in order to fill their own coffures. This is the founding fathers nightmare. A republic run by select special interest. The end of democracy.
I just watched this DVD and I do not feel bad at all for the people or as they try to portray themselves, 'victims' in tis documentary. The only story which I felt the person had been wronged was the story of the United States soldier who was injured and the government would not help him or his family financially. Everyone else in this video who is living in poverty or who killed themselves over credit cards brought the hardship onto themselves. PAY YOUR BILLS, CHARGE ONLY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD!!
You are %100 correct, Jeremy! People seriously always try to act like they are the victims when they are the ones shooting themselves in the foot with 5 credit card bills that they cannot pay off. If people like you and me can save money, go to work, buy ONLY what we CAN afford and pay our bills ON TIME, then why cant everyone else? I LOVE the debt collectors. They are making people accountable. I just ordered this DVD and I'm looking forward to watching it.
Feel sorry for those people who never took advantage of our Capitalist way of living like Corporations do. Never be afraid to go BK...do it and do it again til it works out for u. Make profits.
Not at the expense of loosing my soul in the process. No amount of money or profit is worth exploiting peoples pain and agony. Anyone that thinks it's okay is a sociopath.

cant say im too surprised with your "eh,, whatever" approach to such a real, relevant and pervasive issue. what's the issue? dept collection, irresponsible spending habits? stupid ppl? sure, "whatever", why not right? well i suppose if someone considers the issue to be one or maybe even two dimensional (i.e. borrow $5, then pay $5 when due), then their interpretation will mirror that dimensionality. but hey, love that you keep an open mind, just dont let that pretty brain fall out :-)
Oh, the other thing that gets me is how mad they get about people calling them.
In a Southern dialect: "I don't want you people calling my house telling me that I need to send you money! I told the last "Habib" that called me that I'd send in a payment next month!"
Soooo... We gave you seven grand so you don't have to file bankruptcy, and you have a problem with us calling because you won't give us a hundred bucks a month until it's paid back?
I lend money for a living, and when people start getting collection calls they call up to the office and ask me, "What can I do to get the collectors to stop calling me?"
My response: "Uh, pay the bill."
I don't really say that because I'm supposed to sympathize with them, but I don't...

Damn right...simple-minded enough to understand that it's as simple to avoid debt as it is to simply fall into the traps.
